At enigmaproject.ai, we’re building upon these foundations in a new initiative to massively scale functional neural recordings—fusing them with multi-modal modeling, mechanistic interpretability, automated scientific discovery, and closed loop experimentation to decode the neural basis of perception

MICrONS represents a huge step forward for the field. Big-data and AI will drive the next wave of discoveries in neuroscience

Francis Crick called it “impossible” in 1979. Now it’s real.
A 1 mm cube of mouse brain, 200k cells, 500M synapses, all mapped alongside neuronal activity.

This new MICrONS dataset maps brain structure and function in a way that we've never seen🧪

I'm calling for a $1B-scale effort to transform our understanding of intelligence as profoundly as astronomical observatories transformed our understanding of the cosmos. We need a new kind of institution focused on scale, impact and financial sustainability. More here 2/14 bsky.app/profile/thet...
“Neuroscience has never been better positioned to make transformative discoveries about how intelligence emerges from neural circuits … But to truly harness them, we need a new research model that can drive systematic breakthroughs,” argues @davidamarkowitz.bsky.social

Solving intelligence requires new research and funding models
Our research ecosystem isn't built to deliver the breakthroughs needed to understand intelligence at scale. We need a dedicated research institution to take up the task.

Definitive white paper on neuroAI inspired AI safety!
Excited to release what we’ve been working on at Amaranth Foundation, our latest whitepaper, NeuroAI for AI safety! A detailed, ambitious roadmap for how neuroscience research can help build safer AI systems while accelerating both virtual neuroscience and neurotech. 1/N
Looking forward to NeurIPS next week. Who will I see there?
Fun collaboration on program induction and hierarchical planning led by @cgcorrea.bsky.social in @cocoscilab.bsky.social now out in Cognition!
My paper on hierarchical plans is out in Cognition!🎉

tldr: We ask participants to generate hierarchical plans in a programming game. People prefer to reuse beyond what standard accounts predict, which we formalize as induction of a grammar over actions.
