This work is finally published! 🥳🧬
Plasmids are associated with very variable fitness costs in their different bacterial hosts. But, what is the contribution of each of the plasmid-genes in these host-specific effects? Study led by

I thought the Aspergillus fumigatus pan-genome was pretty wild when we started this project.

Aspergillus flavus said, "hold my beer..." Not only does it have a strong population structure with differences between environmental and clinical strains, only 58%of genes are conserved across the species!

New study by Song et al. highlights a sharp #Warming contrast within the #SouthernOcean: the #Atlantic-Indian sector warms faster than the #Pacific due to #wind-driven heat transport. The contrast is projected to persist, shaping future climate and ocean change. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

A decade of BGC-Argo and plankton records shows North Pacific heatwaves reshape food webs and trap small particles in midwater, slowing deep-ocean carbon export. Impacts vary by event, underscoring the need for sustained ocean monitoring. @mbarinews.bsky.social @miamirosenstiel.bsky.social
