⚠️Armed violence against people on the move and rescue NGOs is escalating alarmingly. There have been 2 attacks since Friday, a total of 4 in the past 6 weeks.

‼️Again, Italy & the EU must stop supporting and financing these actions and ensure accountability for the perpetrators.

Since July 2024, the @MSF team in “People on the Move” project has been supporting young migrants in Agrigento, Sicily, with medical care and psychological support. The majority of them arrive to Italy by crossing the deadly route of the Mediterranean, carrying heavy traumas.

⚫️ 12 years ago, 368 people lost their lives in a tragic shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa.

Preventable deaths at sea have not stopped. 25,470 people have gone missing in the central Mediterranean since 2014.

We must not forget.

Libyan militias chase people in distress - one person drowned!

Yesterday, the so-called Libyan coastguard tried to force people back to Libya and chased them through the sea. When people fell into the water, they left them to die. One person drowned. This is murder!

"I left because people in my village wanted to do FGM to my daughter." A woman from Nigeria fled to Libya with her daughter, only to face more horrors, coerced into prostitution, and beaten for refusing. They ended up on a rubber boat. They didn’t choose this journey.
