Congratulations on the new book! 👏🏻😀
What an awesome way to start my Friday seeing one of my posts shared by @teacher2teacher.bsky.social! Thank you for including my post to share with other educators and for the shout out!
That’s my educator rockstar friend @mirplo.bsky.social right there! Everyone read her article!
@mirplo.bsky.social outlines a few back-to-school night tweaks to help you build strong partnerships with the people who know students best! edut.to/4lAmdBy

“Time is always a rare commodity, a reality that could not be more true for back-to-school night. With only minutes to connect with and inspire the people who are most influential in our students’ lives, every second counts. By moving away from logistics and celebrating instruction, we can seize this rare opportunity to show families and caregivers exactly what it’s like to be a student in our classrooms.” —Miriam Plotinsky, Instructional Specialist

So many things, but here are a few:

1) Witnessing students’ growth in self-confidence

2) Students using their voices/writing in impactful ways that inspire and make a difference not just in the classroom but outside the classroom as well

3) Having opportunity to be a champion for students!
PSA: HIGHLY recommend ALL those who have a role in education to watch/listen to this episode! Such inspirational and important insight shared for all educators, not to mention @principalkafele.bsky.social and Principal El always bring the fire and passion! Could listen to these two all day!
It takes time, but it’s worth it! I usually write the same general message as it is at the start of the school year. I also include a QR code that when scanned, students and families can see a “Meet the Teacher” flyer in which they can learn a little bit more about me.
A favorite teacher tradition of mine - welcome postcards for students! Handwrite a note to every 7th grade student expressing excitement in having them in class and how much I’m looking forward to having a great school year with them!
Already signed up! Not sure if I’ll be able to view it live, but know I’m cheering you on regardless! 👏🏻😀
When students share with me when they have extracurricular/sporting events, I do my very best to be there to cheer them on and support them! By showing interest in what students are passionate about, students notice that you care about them not just through words, but through actions as well.
When I found relevance and interest in the assignments I was given and even to the point where it didn’t seem like just another assignment. Also, the teachers that made me feel seen and that I mattered made a huge difference in my engagement and motivation as a student.
One more post/shout out to @mirplo.bsky.social! So fun being her unofficial PR person at her book signing at @ascdofficial.bsky.social / @isteofficial.bsky.social

Loved getting to see one of my dear educator friends, @mirplo.bsky.social, present to a standing room only audience this morning at the @ascdofficial.bsky.social/@isteofficial.bsky.social conference! Fabulous job, my friend! 👏🏻💖 #educatorssupportingeducators #unofficialPRperson #ISTELive #ASCDannual
A highlight of the @ASCD/@ISTEofficial conference is FINALLY meeting a fantastic educator friend, @mirplo.bsky.social, that I’ve connected and collaborated with virtually for a few years now in person! #ASCDannual #ISTELive
I’m wondering the same as I just joined Bluesky today and am searching for accounts to follow!
Give yourself grace! If lessons or other things don’t go as planned, don’t see those experiences as failures but rather opportunities for growth.
