12 weeks of NSA method training & I’ve finally broken the 40min barrier for 10K

The NSA hype is real

Not the most glamorous way 2 train & probs not for people who don’t like repetition/doing same thing every week but an enjoyable way 2 train I think

Book 5 of 2025

Strange Pictures by Uketsu

Liked this one, something a bit different. An easy read but a clever premise.

Yes past the 400k mark and still going. Still feels like they have life in them
Book 4 of 2025 - Want you Dead by Peter James

The Grace detective series are normally an easy holiday read even if they’re pretty far fetched and trashy.

The plot of this one was too ridiculous though. A miss.

Final swim of the trip. No clue what constitutes a good pace for swimming so I will take it.

Trying to get the runs in still whilst on holiday. All easy efforts cause of the heat then trying to do a few swims for the sub t stuff.

Sunrise run to the beach this morning.
Trail run to Tsambika monastery yesterday. 🇬🇷

4 weeks into NSM now. Feel fitter

Monday - London running

Easy run to Kensington gardens. Reminder that alcohol is a runners worst enemy 🤣

Hoping to get a 6 x 1k threshold session done today

Week 2 of NSM complete. Rest day Sun as won’t have chance to run tomorrow.

Weds & Thurs both 10k easy

Friday - 10k race (time 43:10) as expected fitness is in the bin at the minute but hoping with a few more consistent weeks this picks up.

Saturday 10k easy on the trails

#runsky #running
First week on NSM banked. Encouraging to see my speed on the easy runs has come down a bit whilst still keeping the average HR below 136 bpm (70% of Max HR)

Saturday - 12 x 3mins sub thresh

Sunday - easy long run

Monday - 12k easy

Tuesday - 6 x 1k (60s) thresh

#runsky #running #nsm
HR / splits for the easy run at week 1. Run was early in the morning so not that impacted by the heat.
The long run could fall within one of the 4 super easy runs or one of the 2 threshold ones. Not sure yet
Mon run - 10km easy keeping HR below 70% of max HR. Have to run pretty slow to keep it at that level so will be interesting to see if these speed up over time.

Tues run - 3 x 6 mins @ threshold. 60s rec. Used HR again for this but may change t/hold runs to feel rather than constantly watching HR
Legs have been feeling a bit battered recently so decided to try the Norwegian singles method to help increase the mileage and avoid the niggles & ankle issues.

First week trying it. 6 runs a week, 4 super easy, 2 threshold work outs and 1 long run.

Heat & hill work in Bristol.

Legs still feel naff but running is still one of the funnest ways to explore a new city.

If you like bridges, you’ll like Bristol.

Recovery trail run. Trying to keep my HR in the 130s.

Efforts session on Wednesday (8x800m).

Legs not feeling too fresh at the minute particularly the ankles. Definitely feels like I’ve hit this blocks peak and on the way down for a bit now.

Sub 19 5k attempt - chip time 19:00 😬

Ignore the HR data, didn’t have my strap on. Likely much higher than that.

Lost too much time on the 2nd & 3rd Kms (3:54) but gave it a go in the last one with a 3:31.

7-8 week higher mileage block now with lots more easy running

1 mile road race yesterday evening - first time under 5:30 (just).

Pumas felt fast and the muggy heat didn’t make too much difference with it being a short distance.

5k next week. Hoping this translates into a shot at sub 19…

Book 3 of 2025 - The Inugami Curse by Seishi Yokomizo

Loved this right up to the final 10 pages, which quite frankly, were ridiculous.

Overall enjoyed thoroughly tho. Good if u like anything Japan/murder myst related. Will buy another Detective Kindaichi in the future.

Hard track session by the sea. Testing out the Puma Fast-r 3’s.

2k w/u
6 x 800m (60s)
2k c/d

Average 800m time - 2:58 (3:42/km)

Shoes feel great.V light considering the amount of cushion and spring. Force you on to your toes. Be fun to test them in a 5k!

Have to admit I have been to parkrun in Japan, Netherlands, Sweden & Denmark and all of them were made up of a majority of Brits/Irish still (with a sprinkling of Aussies, kiwis and South Africans). Would say locals made up no more than a 1/3 at any I’ve done even outside of major race weekends.
A new 3D Mario platformer and it being able to handle GTA6 would seal the deal for me.

I don’t have any of the next gen consoles and certainly can’t justify buying 2 but I think however good the Switch 2 is - I’m gonna want the new GTA
🇩🇰 Brølobet / Broloppet 2025 🇸🇪

Hot in the tunnel, windy on the bridge & a long wait to get started but still an amazing experience. All worth it for the views & vibes.

An iconic bridge even without the cult, classic detective show.

Now a sunny beer 🍺

Lots of people at the one I went to today. Quite a large number doing The Bridge run tomorrow
Enjoyed it. It’s a bit odd but in a good way.
And two of the greatest 3D adventure platformers ever made
