This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest stories from the Principality of Monaco. The Monaco Press Club welcomed legendary ocean activist Paul Watson on October 9 for a special conference at the Hôtel Métropole. Speaking to a packed audience, the founder of Sea Shepherd and co-founder of Greenpeace shared reflections on decades of environmental work, warning of the dangers of political inaction in the face of climate change and mass extinction. Also on October 9, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II visited the Sporades archipelago in Greece as part of the Monaco Explorations Mediterranean mission. The trip underscored Monaco’s commitment to ocean protection, continuing the legacy of Prince Albert I’s 28 scientific expeditions. Back in the Principality, Monaco renewed its vital partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross on October 10. The official visit by the ICRC President marked the renewal of a three-year funding agreement that reinforces Monaco’s role in global humanitarian support. On the sporting front, Valentin Vacherot stunned the tennis world on October 12, defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in an all-family final at the 2025 Shanghai Masters to claim his first ATP 1000 title. Celebrations erupted back home at the Monte-Carlo Country Club and Condamine Market, as fans cheered on the new Monegasque champion. Meanwhile, Monaco hosted the third Red Cross and Red Crescent Leadership Meeting from October 12 to 14, bringing together representatives from 43 national societies across Europe and Central Asia. Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene attended the event, which focused on humanitarian strategy and leadership in times of crisis. Culture took centre stage on October 13, as the U Cantin d’a Roca choir celebrated its 30th anniversary with a concert at the Condamine Market Hall. Founded in 1995 to preserve and promote the Monegasque language through song, the choir remains a cherished part of Monaco’s cultural identity. Eight creative talents were honoured at the Prince Pierre Foundation Awards on October 14. Presided over by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanover, the ceremony at the Princely Palace recognised excellence in literature, music, contemporary art, and philosophy. In politics, Monaco’s National Council approved the amended 2025 budget on October 15, transforming a projected €88.6 million deficit into an €86 million surplus. The revised figures were adopted with 17 votes in favour, four against, and three abstentions. On the basketball court, the Roca Team delivered a statement win on October 12, overpowering reigning champions Paris 99–94 in a fiery Betclic Elite clash. Despite the ejection of Alpha Diallo, Monaco controlled the pace and sealed a convincing victory. However, just days later, they fell short in Bologna on October 15, losing 77–73 to Virtus after leading for most of the match. In football, Sébastien Pocognoli was officially unveiled as the new AS Monaco head coach on October 14. The 41-year-old Belgian, signed through to 2027, brings an ambitious, youth-focused vision to the team. And this week, NEWS.MC TV is joined by Loris Menoni, Executive Director of Sportel Monaco. In an exclusive interview, Menoni discusses the evolution of the sports media industry, the role of innovation in broadcasting, and what makes Monaco a world leader in international sports business networking.
