I'm glad you highlighted Ilona and the work she is doing for women's rugby. It's great to see successful women in a sport that has often been characterized as masculine.

Billie Jean King was a professional female tennis player throughout the 60s and 70s. She fought for women's equality and most notably beat Bobby Briggs in the "Battle of the Sexes". She challenged the norm that women could not compete with men athletically.

Sarah Nurse is a great example and good representation for BIPOC women in sports.

Mary Spencer is a Canadian boxing champion holding several titles. She is an Ojibwe from the Cape Croker First Nation competing in a sport that is often white dominated in Canada.

With a full time career I imagine my time for physical recreation will be more limited. I imagine I will continue going to the gym, and playing women's club rugby. But, my time devoted to athletics will be more limited.

Rowan's law day has been implemented to highlight Rowan Stringer, a high school rugby player who died from a concussion while playing rugby. The day is meant to bring awareness to concussions and how to make sport safer.

This article highlights economic gender inequality in the WNBA. During the 2025 All-Star game players protested by wearing shirts that state, “Pay us what you owe us.” Despite a rise in popularity and profits, WNBA players still make significantly less than their male counterparts.

In my definition, a sport is a form of physical competition that follows set rules. For example, I would argue leisure swimming does not qualify as a sport because it lacks aspects of competition and regulations found in competitive swimming.
