"By reducing minimum lot sizes, builders can construct more homes on less land and increase supply and affordability for everyone. Reducing minimum lot sizes helps families achieve the American dream of homeownership."

SB 79 does not apply to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland. Please stop wasting my time with such foolish inquiries.

SB 79 will not apply on the Tijuana side of the California-Mexico border. Please stop DMing me about this.

I'm a firm believer in the power of the YIMBY happy hour. Effective movements are built on communities, and to build community you have to establish a personal connection. If your group doesn't have a monthly happy hour, and obsessively inviting new people, it's time to start one!

That would be super helpful, thanks.

No, they'll be paid before by the substantial increase in property taxes redevelopment generates—and then on top of that, cities will charge many thousands of dollars in impact fees per unit.

If it's in the SB 79 station area, and a city hasn't adopted an ordinance or alternative plan pursuant to a limit set of carve out allowances, it's covered.

Sorry guys, I can't replicate this, either in various incognito browsers or on mobile.

If you have any additional questions or think we got something wrong, please let us know here or in the comments. I also include a map of my best guess as to where SB 79 will apply.

Oh, don't worry, they're already trying to memoryhole all that and ask us and our foundation partners for grants.

A city is not the aggregation of the financial interests of the people who currently live there. It's the aggregation of the dreams of all the people who desperately yearn to live there.

Sacramento YIMBYs: We will be gathering at Der Biergarten on K Street at 5:30pm. All are welcome to come and celebrate the passage of SB 79 and all of the other housing bills signed today!

And that's just California YIMBY—none of this happens without an amazing author, great legislative staff, and co-sponsors who worked just as hard! I'll always cherish the work we did! /thread

Anyway, that's my team—the people whose work I feel a special obligation to celebrate. It took the whole California YIMBY team fully mobilizing to pass this thing!
