Very small waterfall in a hidden paradise. Still trying to fit in as many mountain hikes before the trails become blanketed in snow.

A favorite activity in NW Montana this time of year is to ‘go larching’. The perfect calm of the lake worked as a mirror to double the impact of the Western Larch in their fall golden display.

I’m thinking I need to carry the breaking of a new day on an endless loop with me. A reminder that hope and resolve refresh when we need them most.
Ahh. The crisp cool days are meant for mountain hiking.

How to describe such moments. Sweat flowing. Cooling embrace of the mountain air. Huckleberry bushes reddening. Birds frantically feeding and flocking to move before snows descend. For a moment, all calms to register and store in my soul.

With all that is going on, it is so nice to have reminders to stop, take a deep breath, and take in moments of intense beauty. Sunset just now.

Rehoming. A territorial squirrel stashing pine cones in an old log home. This log home collapses and decomposes more each year. Kinda sad seeing this history disappear, but yet reassuring to see nature reclaiming what has always been its.

Reflecting on how magical it is to start the day above the clouds.
Simple pleasures. Nothing feels better after a hike in a downpour of rain about to turn to snow, than getting back to your car and turning the heater on blast and the seat heater on high.
