Now you've introduced a SECOND problem. Before we were only worried about the browser cache, now we have to worry about the CloudFlare edge cache (that is feeding the browser). And there's no way to tell CloudFlare to remove a page from their cache either 😀😀😀

My HTML page is 1MB and to ensure it doesn't get cached I call it with "page.html?ID=randomnumber". I >thought< this replaced the local 1MB page.html with an updated version. Instead it creates a NEW version. If you visit my site for a month, I'm chewing 30MB in your cache (29MB unused). INSANE!

Despite all of this, browsers will >sometimes< still obstinately cache pages and ignore newer versions on the server. 😀 Extra terrible when it's a javascript file with code. That's why most developers have resorted to using a build process that changes all the filenames before going live.

Oh yeah as a developer I'm covered (great tips though)! The problem is rolling out a new version of the site. Bundlers solve this by renaming all the files, BUT I had thought that appending a random number "?ID=123" was replacing the original page and NOT creating another copy in the browser cache 😀

All of them. It's a client browser problem rather than server. i.e. How do you refresh the page the google chrome has cached. Answer: You can't. page.html?id=123 just creates another page in the cache, and the original page.html is still there.

Until yesterday, I thought "page.html?id=203" would delete the cached version of "page.html" and replace it with the latest (thanks to "cache busting"). How about you?
