Tolerating gerontocracy, housing theory of everything understander, abundant housing, abundant transit. Also computer and math stuff

The National Motorists Association was the only opposition and they registered their opposition three times like some computer illiterate boomer. That's the opinion Newsom was weighing heavily??
What would be the rationale behind vetoing this? Who were the opponents? Amazing work from SFA and SAFE (both LA orgs where I want to say it seems like we need it here most)
It is way too car oriented:(

I just landed back in LA from SF after not visiting for 4 years. Absolutely eye watering experience in terms of transit. BART is absolutely *chef's kiss* now. Muni had some antisocial behavior but I could around by Lyft ebike. Never once thought about needing a car.

Hey great news folks, I know how much everyone has been freaked out by one-size-fits-all zoning --

On Friday, in California, we ended it. You can now build houses of all sizes. No more one-unit-only per property.

YIMBYs rejoice!
It's quite amazing how bad he's managed to make America look here, especially if you know that England is the final NIMBY degrowther boss in the developed world, that would have an economy on par with Bulgaria if it weren't for London, and yet... still manages to beat us on many QoL metrics.
Pay It Forward Housing Compact is brilliant naming
Wish I knew about this! Not Lithuanian but Ukrainian, I love Lithuanian culture and especially their food (obvious Commonwealth influence left on Ukraine, too)
That's what clean-up bills are for, no?
Literally anyone is better than the current mayor on housing, sure. Hard to be worse.
If you're fortunate enough to own a SFH that will be upzoned by SB 79, you'll be able to sell your house for ~3x it's pre-upzoned value. Look at Expo/Bundy station in LA to see how it will actually play out in your neighborhood.
It's important for people like you to understand how things will really play out in reality. This is precisely what it will look like: youtu.be/s-MnbKfZYiY

Stay impotently mad. Get used to being on the backfoot, because the SB 79 cleanup bills to strengthen it are coming.

Thinking about this for most of the night, I don't think normal people realise Banerjee & Duflo leaving MIT is Bad-Bunny-level academic news.

I am delighted to share that Nobel laureates Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee will join our Department of Economics @econ.uzh.ch at the University of Zurich on July 1, 2026, as Lemann Foundation Professors of Economics.

Isn't it just that one historical preservationist NIMBY from LA? I know him all too well.
Proud to be blocked by Larry on xitter, blue sky, Facebook and insta
United Neighbors are probably in utter shock but I'll be sure to post their mailing list meltdowns
If he does nothing it becomes law. Possible outcome, who knows anymore.
can you quantify "a lot"?
