My brother served on Polaris and than later on swiftsure. Russia produces bulk but they do not produce quality. The astute class sub at full speed is quieter moving through the water than a baby dolphin and absorbs incoming sonar pulses with anechoic tiles. Dreadnaught wiil be stealthier still.

We do not have enough warheads total to destroy russia. We have enough on a single sub to destroy every major city.

But we don't need to destroy Russia. Trident is a socond strike strategic deterrent. Russia just needs to know nuking us will never be worth the consiquences.

The point is there is no point worrying about what our military is like now. We cannot change the present only the future. The UK military is currently undergoing the most extensive modernisation in living memory and the biggest enlargent since the cold war. The rest of Europe is doing the same.

Having only 1 method of delivering nuclear weapons in not a problem because it is the only method that matters. The only one that can always survive a nuclear attack and can never be located. Russia could use their to destroy the UK and half an hour later every Russian city would cease to exist.

So does threatening to cancel $20b that would help stabilise their currency if the wrong candidate wins count as election interference?

If the US was a worthwhile ally they would be giving weapons to Ukraine the same way Europe is. The sooner Europe removes all military equipment dependence on the US the better.

When I said we weren't here to be disappointed with Labour but to replace them. I meant it.

Labour has a green problem

I hope to see all of our spending go to European manufacturers that can scale up and produce equipment without any reliance on America while US weapon manufacturers and Pete Hegseth can go screw themselves.

This is it exactly. If the Russian invasion of Ukraine were to succeed it will be the first step in a new soviet union. Currently Ukraine is preventing this, the Russian military has been decimated and by the time they rebuild Europe will have re-armed.

We currently have the biggest navy in Europe, one of the only 2 nuclear deterrents in Europe and the Global Firepower index rates us as the most powerful military in Europe and 6th most powerful in the world. Our current modernisation across all forces is incredible but we are not starting at zero.

Major war against who??? Russia is on the brink of collapse, they couldn't take Ukraine 3 years ago, they certainly couldn;'t face Europ now. America has lost interest in Europe and is focusing their attention on the south China sea and their own citizens and China is focused on Taiwan.

The first type 26 frigates are in production as are type 31, designs are finalising on the type 32 and the type 83 air defence destroyer. We just launched the 7th astute class submarine and the first two dreadnaught class nuclear missile submarines are in production. Building a fleet takes time.

in this case losses are dewath, captures and injuries severe enough to put a soldier out of action. I've seen footage of russian units with propel on crutches and using wood to try to re-enforce armour. These are acts of desperation. Putin is dead if he surrenders so he's throwing men into a grinder

Europe is also undergoing the largest re-armament since the cold war. in appprox 10-15 years the Royal Navy will have increased its large warship fleet to 42 vessels (frigates, destroyers, carriers and subs) all brand new. This will be the largest navy in Europe and the 4th largest in the world.

It has lost over 25,000 in combined tanks and armoured vehicles. and it lost 26 vessels from the black sea fleet including The Moskva ( The flagship), a kilo class submarine and corvettes. Yes tol aircraft losses are just over 750.

Russia has slowed to the point where it will take 80 years to capture Ukraine. It has lost 26 warships, 25,000+ tanks and armoured vehicles, 1000's of aircraft, refineries, factories, railway junctions, most of its economy and over a million men. Russia does not have 80 years, I doubt it has 1 year.

I want to see him destroyed. The best outcome is he ends up living under a bridge yelling his conspiracy theories at a brick wall.

Pretty sure some in Trumps circle are already investing in Iron Lung shares.

Watching America implode is equal parts fascinating and horrifying.

Every European country is supplying them with equipment and aid. The fact is that no other countries have military deployed in Ukraine for combat operations. The actual defending is being done by Ukrainians. Russia on the other hand turned to North Korea for additional troops.

Indeed. The Royal Navy was a surgeon with a scalpel. The US navy is a chimpanzee with a hammer.

HMS Lancaster stopped a drug boat in the Gulf of Oman. They sent out a wildcat helicopter with a Royal Marine sniper who took out the boats engine with a single shot.

The boat was boarded and $35M in drugs were seized. No-one died and those taken into custody could be tried with actual evidence

I personally have no interest in it but I would have liked a decent Tron sequel without him.

That will be a box office smash no doubt </s>
