Most people think having a conversation with someone they care about is confrontation and would rather give said person the cold shoulder and act as if “maybe if I ignore them they’ll get the hint.”

So while I don’t think everyone in this argument is “wrong” I think we need to be a little bit more empathetic toward folks and also just being honest and if that person is someone you claim to care about you gotta reach out in a respectful manner and be like “hey xyz thing makes me uncomfortable”

It’s okay to tell someone that you can only provide as much help as you can as someone who cares but they’re going to have to want to reach out to professionals for help. Sometimes it’s hard to get help, it’s more than just black and white.

Nobody should wake up feeling like they don’t matter. Not everyone who post about being sad is being self absorbed attention seekers, and trying to paint them out as such pushes a narrative to stigmatize mental health
