I've always written out my sessions like TV episodes in a way, espeically using the tiers & tentpoles model I shamelessly stole from Gargoyles (if you're gonna seal, steal from the best).

That way I can be flexible with length.

GM Tip: I like to divide long campaigns into shorter "chapters" of 4 to 8 sessions. This allows me to alternate between different campaigns with each chapter, preventing burnout. And it allows me to check in with players regularly, adjusting the campaign as needed.

After skimming its quickstart, the Ghost in the Shell #ttrpg does not appear to be a repeat of the mistakes made in Cowboy Bebop. Hell, even though it's using the FitD ruleset, it's not a reskinning like some projects i've seen.
I'm at least a little more optimistic than I was before.

I don't think there's any one answer, too much context.
However, I do think it comes down to respecting (not revering) what came before. The understanding that you are standing on the shoulders of giants, and your own work will be someone else's shoulders one day.
