Every other team in the league had a perfect pre-season with no disruption or injuries whatsoever. Just look at those lucky people at Crystal Palace, for example…

It’s like teams expecting the ball to be put out whenever a player goes down, isn’t it? There’s always an incentive to abuse it just to break up the game. You play to the whistle and that’s it.

Thought so too. None of them moved to either get back in position or make sure we couldn’t take the kick, imagining the ref would just hold things up while they slowly got ready for the restart and took some pace out of the game.

I meant it in the “Neither of us are going to impose a cut-off point on major trophy wins being counted” sense. There was self-deprecation to go with the “You’re Spurs” line. If we couldn’t laugh at ourselves, we’d have to go and support Arsenal.

Just found it. ‘Think Before You Tweet’ documentary from 2020 done by Steve Wraith. It’s on YT. I only watched a little bit but it’s the first time I’d seen him in person. Came across quite well; went straight back to how he was.

Longstaff was just never the player some expected him to be (injuries, loss of confidence, Bruce). And, of course, a local lad. I wondered when it would start with Miley too. If Jackie Milburn played today, they’d be slating him for not scoring enough with his head.
