My new science fiction novel is out today! A quirky band of scientists investigate a threat in a town riddled with strange events and science that pushes the envelope of what is possible. Awesome cover art by Kelly Lyon King!

That too. AI can’t see confusion in the students face and realize they need more help.

It’s not just content, it’s also skills, and even sometimes inspiration and encouragement.

Doing the work is how you discover the parts of the story that make it great.

The thing in History of Middle Earth that blew my mind was that Tolkien didn't know who Strider was in early drafts.

This also is part of why I don't get using AI for writing. It's not the idea that matters. If Tolkien had used AI, there's no way we'd have the heir of Isildur storyline in LOTR.

Really one of the best comic book adaptations out there. Things like this, Logan, Doom Patrol, really show how weird and wonderful and impactful comic book stories can be.

I feel like a lot of people slept on this incredible show
Legion is a Superhero Horror-Psychological Thriller television series based on the X-Men character of the same name, created and executive produced by Noah Hawley (Fargo). The show was designed with a three-season run in mind, running from 2017 to 2019 on FX.

David Haller (Dan Stevens) is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic who has struggled with mental illness since his late childhood. When he meets a similarly-troubled woman (and fellow patient) named Sydney Barrett (Rachel Keller), he's confronted with the disturbing possibility that there's more to his schizophrenia than he believes: that the voices he hears and visions he sees are actually real. Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart also co-star.

Despite being a co-production between 20th Century Fox (the X-Men Film Series) and Marvel (the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Legion is said to be set in neither of those continuities, but rather, its own parallel universe. Despite references to outside continuity, the series is designed to stand on its own.

Also wasn't there just a video titled "Deep Dive into Draw Steel Lore"? Or is being awake only because of dangerous doses of caffeine making me miss something? www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U6i...

As I draft this crazy ambitious fantasy novel I keep thinking about The History of Middle Earth. I'm both in awe of and terrified by things that Tolkien didn't know in his early drafts. It makes me worry that there's something missing in my outline. Something significant.

What's your totally ordinary opinion about books that you nonetheless find compelled to share when asked on a social media site such as this one for your most extreme/unhinged/hottest takes?

I'll go first: manga is popular among young people because manga often features young people.

For fantasy series, besides Lord of the Rings of course, I’d pick Joe Abercrombie’s First Law series and the three one shots that followed it.

in my opinion seasons 4-6 of the Game of Thrones tv show handled things much better than the corresponding books in the series. I won’t go into seasons 7 and 8 of course.

I’d so love to see a retro futuristic Tron story with that very literal thinking of the characters as aspects of the program.

So many to mention… for sci-fi maybe The Expanse.
