You’ll notice that new developments in generative AI are always accompanied by new ways of depicting women without their consent—undermining their autonomy and harassing them—almost like it’s a pillar of the technology and its evolution

Congratulations! I look forward to checking it out

Would love to find more mutuals who aren’t on that hellsite. Movies, books, and art (in general) are my life. I’d love to have more people to discuss them with!

Here’s my Letterboxd if you want to use that as an indicator of whether we’d get along lol boxd.it/37zqb

Blum is a hack who produces 98% worthless garbage. Almost everything he’s touched this year has been a massive flop. No wonder he wants to use AI.

Jason Blum says Hollywood should 'embrace AI' and viewers 'don't care if what they’re looking at is AI"

"it’s here to stay. It’s very important to use it ethically and legally, and for studios and guilds to protect the copyright of the artists"

These are people’s jobs and livelihoods being taken away when you use AI for your set photographs or decorations. It’s not something to joke around with.
methodsworld.bsky.social
The second you give these people even a single inch with GenAI, they are going to take it all and burn everything down. Do not let them act like using it for a photograph in the background or a poster on the wall is okay.

Happy “new Shane Black film release day” to all those who celebrate

Today feels like a truly hopeless day. I just don’t know how we can get out of this.

If you believe in putting people that you disagree with in camps, we simply do not need to have a discussion. I will never consider your position or agree with you.
methodsworld.bsky.social
The echo chamber argument might hold some weight if these people held positions worthy of discussion and consideration.

I don’t hate LGBTQ+ or non-white people, and don’t want to see marginalized people lose their rights.

Why would I need to listen to someone argue a different position than that?

Man, does it hurt to see so many people gleefully choosing to walk the path of ignorance and closed-mindedness

Bit late on these, but Young Bucks vs. Brodido, MJF vs. Mark Briscoe, and Tomohiro Ishii vs. Kyle Fletcher were all incredible. It’s ridiculous how stacked these cards are every week.

I’m not saying anything groundbreaking here, but Ian McShane is one of our greatest living actors.

Ebert has that quote about how no movie can be entirely bad when it features Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmett Walsh…I would add Ian McShane to that list.

Ben not rejecting this AI abomination immediately after seeing it, and instead going out of his way to promote it, made me lose all that respect.

Don’t tell me you respect cinema as an art form while promoting exploitative AI technology that shit on one of the greatest films in Hollywood history.

I have respected Ben Mankiewicz for years. He always treats classic films with immense respect and love, and I like his sense of humor.

His recent decision to endorse the AI sphere version of The Wizard of Oz is disgusting and spits in the face of everything he spent his career promoting.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps sounds like a threat

I think the best line from The Big Lebowski is: “Walter, I love you, but sooner or later you’re gonna have to face the fact that you’re a goddamn moron.”

There are so many times you can use this line in real life.

We have enough people who tread water for racists, fascists, and all the others in that sphere. Let’s spend our time weeping for those who need (and deserve) it.

“Don’t speak ill of the dead.”

Maybe you should do things while you’re on this mortal plane that improve the world and don’t make people speak ill of you.

Call me insensitive, call me hysterical, call me whatever you want—I shed no tears for racists.

You know these character’s lives, interests, and entire personalities just from looking at them.

I’ve watched The Big Lebowski about 15 times in the last week. I love the Coen Brothers’ ability to cast actors who appear in 1-2 scenes but have lasting impact on the audience.

Also, do your research and do NOT get those Turkish veneers that influencers get.

They shave your real teeth down significantly until you have little nubs left. You should do everything possible at every stage to preserve your natural tooth structure. Once you lose it, it’s gone forever.

My favorite part of movies is how they represent other people’s lives and experiences. I love the actors with the crooked noses and missing front teeth because they seem to have a story outside of the plot.

Chiclet teeth with a $200 haircut make every actor feel like cinematic soylent.
methodsworld.bsky.social
There are crooked teeth, stained teeth, perfect teeth, and even missing teeth! They look like people who are believably part of this diegetic world.

When everyone has teeth like a Hollywood star, the artificiality overwhelms you.

If you pull up even the shittiest pre-2000 (I have no idea what the actual cutoff year would be) movie, take a peek at the bankteller, the line cook, the car salesman, the janitor, the store manager, the businessman, etc.
