Hello. If you're new to me, please know a *lot* of this feed is pictures of my feet as evidence of having reluctantly gone for a daily walk (#UnconfinedWalks). See also cups of tea (#TeaUp) and a Saturday night social (#ConfinedCocktails). In between there may be some archives.

Just popped into the Royal Institution for a coffee, to discover they have a lovely display on benzene to mark the bicentenary of Faraday's discovery of it. Here are his notes, his paper, and one of his first samples. Glorious.

I don't have time to follow the cricket today and... well, that's probably for the best.

We wouldn't necessarily recommend storing a Great Seal in an old sweets box and wrapping it in plastic, but we can't deny that it kept this magnificent seal of Elizabeth I safe!

#seal #archiveconservation #16thCentury
A large brown pendant seal, lying in a round carboard container and wrapped in transparant plastic. The underside of the cardboard container, advertising 'other popular flavours', such as 'Luxury Candies', 'Peppermint Creams' and 'Jersey Toffees'. The Great Seal of Elizabeth I, with the plastic wrapping removed. It depicts her standing, holding the orb and sceptre.
The verso of the Great Seal, showing Elizabeth I astride a horse, holding the orb and sceptre.

True, though my visit plan is somewhat lurgy-impacted. So I shall be looking around suspiciously at all times for germs.

Morning all. Contemplating a short site visit later as the number of delayed Tube lines racks up while I'm watching.

When having an inexplicably bad day, always always check in with how much sleep you've had. I know this. Do I do it? As if.

Anyway, I was asleep by 10 and I feel rather better today.

You know, I think I'm going to bed. To read, initially. But that.

Wild optimism. Although there's still the bit where there's some kind of catastrophe and the whole world has to come together to save humanity. Which. Hmm.

Oh, in which case maybe I'm open to the future after all? Such conflictedness.

The Americans is still free on C4, and the 1980s feel a very long way away now.

I was in sandals yesterday! But it's getting there. Chilly first thing today.

It's so good. And also bad, but I don't care.

Whoa. A stopped clock etc, Netflix has just told me The Diplomat series 3 comes back shortly. (I am off Netflix this month, but that gloriously trashy show would tempt me back next even if I didn't have Christmas movie needs. Which I absolutely do.)

It's made me think Sunday after next, when the clocks change, I might repeat my favourite ever #DistanceDrift, collecting colourful items to make a "shrine" somewhere lovely. It's such a cheerful thing on a dark day.

Minimalist #UnconfinedWalks to and from the office. It is dark today and I'm pretending I have SAD as an excuse for my mood. Good leaves though.

Love a cooked yoghurt marinade/dip thing. It looks like nothing on earth, but it's worth it.

Grumpy today and it's grey and dismal so #UnconfinedWalks along the cycle route because it's good for autumn colour. The textures and rich colour have brightened me up a bit.

Those are very lovely arrangements.
