Together we reaffirmed the value of offshore wind for stabilizing energy costs, creating family-sustaining jobs, and securing Maryland’s energy future, and continued our call for clean energy development and local investment.
Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman Johnny Olszewski, Maryland Energy Administration Director Paul Pinsky, State Delegate Lorig Charkoudian, and others spoke to dozens of supporters as part of the Maryland Day of Action for Offshore Wind.
This morning in Baltimore, our executive director, Kim along with our climate policy and justice director, Rebecca joined a press conference with lawmakers, advocates, union leaders, and others in support of offshore wind in Maryland.

He represented Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties since 2011. Delegate Otto was committed to open conversations and his friendships extended across the political and ideological spectrum. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and constituents.
Maryland LCV is saddened to hear of the passing of Delegate Charles J. Otto, who was dedicated to serving his community and a member of the House Environment Committee for fifteen years.

“Low-income communities and communities of color are bearing the brunt of these events,” Lierman added. “They may not always have the resources to evacuate, they take longer to recover and the worsening climate takes a lasting toll on people’s health and well-being.”
