They opened with "I Can't Explain". I have to admit, that was a highlight.

If you read the commentary at the end of article, there is compelling data to suggest the 7% if erroneously inflated. Anecdotally, if 7 out of 100 people were exposed to mass shooting, yet I don't know a single person if my large network of friends & family that spans the US. You? Food 4 thought.

Agree. I wish more journals had this option. But they would need full time staff just to monitor it.

🧪 🧪 How prevalent is direct exposure to mass shootings in the US? A survey study of 10,000 US adults, 7% reported having been present on the scene where 4 or more people were shot.

Read the comments section at the end. Two persons left very critical assessments of this study.

Few believed Ypsilanti's Jennifer Schwartz when she claimed to see a gator crossing U.S.-23 last year, but a discovery on Detroit's Belle Isle feels like vindication. bit.ly/4nClVMu

I got my B.S. in Marine Biology from Florida Tech (FIT) in Melbourne. Great school and location. I got a lot of hands on experience...which made me realize I didn't want a career in Marine Biology and pursued a career Epidemiology. But, I don't regret those 4 years in undergrad. I had a blast.

🧪🧪 A recent study finds: 60% of retractions were due to misconduct and falsification of data, 17% were due to plagiarism, 12% were related to unethical peer review practices, and 11% were due to authorship issues

Examining Retractions in Sustainability Research: Frequency, Causes, and Key Themes - Journal of Academic Ethics
This study aims to identify and analyze retracted articles in the field of sustainability. It examines a dataset of 117 retracted publications from the past three decades (1996–2023) based on the Web of Science (WoS) database. The retracted articles were written by 467 authors from 27 countries. The findings indicate that the journals with the highest number of retractions in sustainability research are PLOS One, Complexity, Discrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, Frontiers in Environmental Science, and the Journal of Nanomaterials. Through a comprehensive examination of visual domain networks and the evaluation of 117 retracted sustainability articles, several key themes were identified, including research ethics and data integrity, authorship and collaboration conflicts, manipulation of the peer review process, and institutional and geographic retraction patterns. The results also reveal that nearly 60% of retractions in this domain were due to misconduct and falsification of data, 17% were due to plagiarism, 12% were related to unethical peer review practices, and 11% were due to authorship issues. This study provides a comprehensive review of retraction trends in sustainability research, highlighting key patterns and contributing factors. By identifying the journals, countries, and affiliations most frequently associated with retractions, this paper offers valuable insights into the prevalence of retractions in sustainability research. Results also underscore the critical importance of adherence to ethical standards in maintaining the credibility of sustainability research.
