“Be anything you like, be madmen, drunks, and bastards of every shape and form, but at all costs avoid one thing: success. If you are too obsessed with success, you will forget to live. If you have learned only how to be a success, your life has probably been wasted.” - Thomas Merton
macOS 26 is...fine, honestly. No real issues after I got used to the crazy border radius. Spotlight is really snappy now, and you can hide menu bar icons without an external app.
This rarely happens on HN, which makes it very hard for me to believe it could happen on LinkedIn :)
The AI opinion retcon is already upon us, and will continue.
In the late stages of the bubble we’re starting to see multiple “people in tech don’t really believe in all of this, honest, we just act like it because we think we have to”, but the truth is that it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve been acting like a true believer and you are what you do
Will do. I've done the functional core/imperative shell thing by hand a lot but DI gets me 95% of the benefit without needing to break code into such small pieces
Weird. This is the native app flow, correct? Web apps def have stayed logged in for >2 weeks for me in the past.
You had me at functional core imperative shell
At least it’s not Electron
Fixed this a week ago by uninstalling a duplicate GameInput update. Last night I’m seeing delayed inputs in 2xko, and whaddya know: GameInput was updated earlier that day.

FWIW I think they don’t care to test now on W10. If that’s the case then they should stop pushing updates.
Reddit adding games is a negative health signal
I worry Apple got too big to care about some things post iPhone
Another good day of brain coding
Despite what people on LinkedIn say, there’s more than one metagame to life.
Today's discovery: a Github notification from the fixpoint operator of combs that I cannot dismiss
Changed keycaps on my Leopold FC750R to a Keychron dolch set. Happy with the result, and I even have proper command/option keys!
“Do you love her? Do you hate her?”

“Why does it have to be one or the other?”

10/10 Summary:

AI agents are very useful. But creation itself is irreplaceable.

If you always delegate creation, you lose mechanical sympathy, and eventually effectiveness.

Question: how to preserve that effectiveness while still getting the most from agents.
Watched my coworkers struggle with this. Favorite moment: Claude deleting tests around transaction handling in order to make the test suite pass.

Everyone talks about the need for a world model for LLMs, but I think distributed systems reasoning requires a multi-world model due to concurrency.
We asked two of our best engineers to try and teach Claude distributed systems programming, and it was... an interesting experience.

May the odds be ever in your favor.
"It’s sort of pathetic to reflect that we have so few—maybe no—authentic and unmediated experiences that the thing that now really upsets people is an alteration of a simulation of authenticity...it reflects a deep spiritual poverty in our country."

Sleep is way too nuanced to be reduced to a single number. It's not like a 97 means I'll feel refreshed upon waking. The utility of sleep tracking on the Apple Watch mostly comes down to tracking sleep stages for me, and that, too, is up in the air as far as accuracy.

Still miss my Zeo.
