It’s 42F outside and verrrrry rainy. Hubs is in the thick of it starting the build that will become our cabin’s new arctic entryway, which will also have a sink and new studio corner for me. Yay, but I’m really looking forward to the house build and finally having my own darkroom facilities 💕

The full moon from the other morning was so lovely and so peaceful. Fall is still with us in Kenny Lake, Alaska, and I hope it stays awhile longer. I’m not yet ready for snow 💕

A morning photograph of the October 2025 full moon as it heads towards the horizon. Nothing is in focus and the sky is a lovely pink.

I don’t update my website as often as I probably should but that doesn’t really matter. What matters is I updated it today with my most recent prints. And I can see that in the link image, I have Hyderites cut off and should fix that at some point 💕

At least it’s sour cream and not mayonnaise 😂

Out for a sunset swim 🧡

And, dang, muskrats are rad (so was that sky) 🧡

Definitely worth it 💕

For years I thought that someone would steal this sign before I’d be able to take it. Thanks to good friends and the owner of the building who raised no fuss about my having the sign, the Dean’s Groceries sign has travelled north from Hyder, Alaska, to be with me in Kenny Lake. Hallelujah 💛🧡💛

Mainly because of our insane road trip down to Prince Rupert, BC (I really wasn’t thinking about distance when I planned it), it’s been nearly a month since I last printed. Today I did the 1st two layers on a print that showcases the reason for our trip, a stay at the Cassiar Cannery 💕

A letterpress print with the words ‘Cassiar Cannery’ printed in gray and ‘Halibut House’ in blue

The Dairy Queen in Palmer offers half off on shakes and malts from 2-5 M-F. This was discovered by accident, a very happy accident 💕

While we were in Hyder earlier this month, my husband took the Dean’s Groceries sign off the building. My oldest childhood Hyder friend brought the sign back to Kenny Lake for me. I grew up in this once-was-a-baptist-church building and my dad was Dean 💛

Yay! What a fantabulous piece of awesomeness. Congrats! :)

And then your husband starts acting like a moose to try and bring it back 🤣♥️♥️♥️

When a totally legal, beautiful moose walks right in front of you and across your property and you have not camera, not gun, nor hunting license…. 🙄

The swans have come for a visit (and maybe a reprieve from the wickedly blowing wind) 💕

Had to go to Anchorage today and didn’t see either guy (or anyone, really) in the Lowe’s, Panda Express, or Costco off Muldoon.

Could you imagine, Trump at Lowe’s? 😂

The silence of a muskrat gliding through the water is lovely 💕

But no one is ever going to talk about it

It’s 53F/12C, rainy, and verrrrry grey out. I hate to say it, but it feels like the end of summer. Sigh.

Teaching myself how to adjust my bike brakes is a small but important win. My next challenge is figuring out the world of tires. As for my recently purchased 80s era bike, that lovely is at a bike shop in Palmer. If I’m lucky, I’ll get it back by the end of August (but they were helpful, so win) 🤣💕

Came home from a lunch with friends to find that my husband has decided today is the day to listen to Judas Priest at full volume. That man fills my heart 🤣💕🤘🏼

Nothing says summer in Alaska to me quite the same way that fireweed does 💕

Externally motivated responsibilities, is what I meant 😁
mashinter.bsky.social
Fewer external responsibilities, is what popped into my head. Nowadays, more of the things I have to do come from me, not someone else, and it’s wonderful 💕

I also printed a little welcome note to the baby grebes that appeared in the pond yesterday. Baby grebes bring me joy. Long live the grebettes! 💕

The finished product is enough to get the point across. Put yer tp in the bucket (so we can burn it later). The bucket? It’s from Lowe’s 🤣🤣💕

#letterpress
A completed letter press that says, toilet paper goes in the bucket, thanks, and has a manicule pointing towards the word ‘bucket’.
