#interspeciesTrek Survival

For about 2,000 years, The Vidians suffered from a devastating disease called the Phage. As a result, their society centered on finding ways to stay alive.
Ooh, I really like this episode!
#interspeciesTrek Symbolism

The Bajoran people gained insight from orbs sent by the Prophets--insight through visions cloaked with symbolism.
I realized you forgot about Fabian Stevens. He was one of the engineers in "Starship Down"
#interspeciesTrek Growing up Between Worlds

Both K'Ehleyr and B'Elanna Torres grew up resenting their Klingon halves.
After having not read these in forever, I was reminded of how much I loved Capt. Gold. He's such a great character.

Fave sequence: I love the beginning of "Cold Fusion" the morning after with Fabian and Corsi. I like the "cold woman has a soft interior" trope.

I read these when they first came out and forgot how much I loved them. I've been thinking about rereading these eventually. I think I'm going to start sooner rather than later. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
I thought this last season and I, repeat in this one, I think The Diplomat would work as a cool #StarTrek story. Darker than normal, but I think it'd be cool.
I think it was brilliant! When Sonya initially contacted the ship and said they agreed to surrender the entire crew, I imagined everyone on the bridge thinking "What the heck??" Of course, now I'm wonder how (per LD) Landru wound up where it started. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
I always thought it was interesting we never saw the "rogue computer" in the modern Trek shows. I think because in the newer era we as a society didn't fear the computer, whereas in the '60's there was concern about computers taking over. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
The risk is you may not know who built the machine, what its purpose was or how it will interact with your own systems. Another big risk is, if it's used, and antiquated, there is potential of it breaking down. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
Reminds me of commercials I keep hearing for a roofing company at home. "You ever feel trapped in your own home by high pressured salesmen?" I guess this does make sense for a Ferengi where the sale is the most important thing. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
I think by this point, profit was so ingrained in Ferengi culture that Milia was a heretic. His ideas were so out of left field that they just didn't stick, apparently not even enough for him to be a martyr. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
I'm kind of iffy on that theory. I get that they'd need supplies, but it doesn't make sense to me. I do think the rain is why many of them often walk slouched. As for it represents. Idk it's just home. OTOH, they hate it but OTOH they wax nostalgic about it. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
I think Rom will perform well. It's just that there is going to be a lot of pushback from his radical reforms. However, if he can frame the reforms as profitable, then he'll survive it. I think he's done similarly with Quark-convincing that an idea is beneficial. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
He's straight laced like Picard but a bit more casual and personable. He's a good mentor when advice is needed. He trusts his people, especially the engineers since he knows they have a lot more experience than he does. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
it works for them. Like Quark said, humans may look down on it, but Ferenginar didn't have the violent history that Earth had. It seems like they'd place less emphasis on personal relationships but Ferengis do love their families and we've seen them fall in love. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
Ooh, I like the German one since it's more detailed art, wheareas the other is a pencil sketch. #TrekBookClub #STSCECaveatEmptor
#interspeciesTrek Mediate

Archer is called upon to mediate a territorial dispute among the Vulcans and Andorians.
Ooh, good question. They're different yet both very good at their jobs. I think Geordi is better at the by the book engineering whereas Miles improvises out of necessity. Not that Geordi can't improvise, he has, but he's more of a planner.
Drastic Measures by Dayton Ward

or we could go new with Ring of Fire by David Mack.
They're all great. But my pick is David Gold.
Speaking of which, I think it's odd for someone barely out of the Academy to be Chief of Operations but that's just me.
Being the problem solver that he is, Nog would've fit right in. I can easily see him making friends w/ the others. (I think & Pattie would get along great) But he's right--on the Da Vinci, he's one small part of the team whereas on DS9 he's the chief of Operations. #TrekBookClub #STSCEColdFusion
Other Ferengi are schmoozers. Especially Quark, he butters you up looking for a sale. Nog's more forthright. He really has a handle on the Great Material Continuum--the best way to get something you want or need is to find out what the supplier wants/needs. #TrekBookClub #STSCEColdFusion
