Last fall, I was tired of hearing that support for bikes came from a narrow minority of Berkeley, so I commissioned a poll to ask how broad support is here. The answer is that the vast majority of the city, 73%—and even a majority of people who do not bike—support adding more bike infrastructure.
A pie chart showing that 73% of poll respondents support expanding bike infrastructure in Berkeley. A chart showing that 91% of respondents want off-street paths, 86% want concrete-protected bike lanes, and 74% want parking-protected bike lanes. Posts or paint are not enough.

The Pastry Box in the East Village, NYC, has a sign out today saying, "Name a better Black & White." Even with my considerable expertise on this topic, I cannot. Everything else I tried was fabulous, too, and the people are awesome. Get to it. thepastrybox.co
A beautiful, crinkly Black & White cookie sitting on a piece of waxed paper. It looks almost homemade, not perfectly even, and all the better for it.

I love both the books (_Wool_ and sequels) and the TV series. An extension of this article's ideas, in a way.

I mean, that is the plot of AppleTV's _Silo_ 😂

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!

Is it not on Apple Books? (I have a copy coming in print but would happily double up.)

Most bike rides are joy rides.

Completely agree with the point. I’ve appreciated some of the things Pritzker has said about trans rights recently, too.

I remember he was also very excited about crypto. I believe we funded a $100k crypto microbond thing. I wonder what happened with that.
