I love all the stories that one football match 31 years ago created. Thanks for sharing all of your memories. Many of us on here don’t know each other but we have much that binds us.

It’s almost 31 years since Notts dumped Spurs out of the League Cup with a mighty 3-0 win. We were rock bottom of what is now the Championship but we put in an inspired performance to defeat Jurgen Klinsmann and co. Were you at Meadow Lane that night? What are your memories of that incredible match?

Did you sneak out again the next night?

Brackley 4-2 up now. Looking like a new ground for Notts fans to visit barring an incredible comeback.

That would have capped off an incredible night for you.

I was at the Burnley game. Definitely a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show!

I totally agree. He was a man on a mission that night.

We could never handle big crowds back in those days.

And it would be great to have a decent cup run again soon. It’s been far too long since we played one of the big boys.

And I think Ossie was sacked the next day!

50 years ago yesterday, Notts pulled off one of the greatest results in our history knocking the mighty Leeds out of the League Cup. It was a night when the chant ‘Super Notts’ was born. Did you go to the game? What are your memories of that night? I’d love to hear from those who were there.

It looks like it was on 25th February 1950. I wonder if Lawton was on the scoresheet.

Mine’s in the loft somewhere. It’s probably worth the same amount as the guarantee the trust got from Munto 😂

Great response 😁. I totally agree about Bluesky. Much more supportive and less knee-jerk.

It was clearly meant to be. You seem far too humble to be ‘one of them’ 😂

That’s a great story. It’s amazing how we end up getting hooked.

Great stuff. A night match certainly has a different feeling to it. I can definitely relate to the crowd and the pitch creating a sense of wonder.

My dad rarely goes these days but is still black and white to the core and my obsession with Notts is very much down to him. I have so many amazing memories going to games all around the country with him. Special times.

What a start and what great memories. It’s funny what smells you can remember. I remember the smell of liniment from near the players’ tunnel.

I didn’t realise that was 50 years ago today. If I could go back in time and choose 3 Notts matches to be at that were before my time, that would definitely be one of them. I’ll make sure we have a thread dedicated to that match so that anyone who was there can share their memories.

I remember that one. I think it was moved to the Sunday because of Goose Fair. Dean Thomas’ goal was a belter. If we’d have won we would’ve been 5th, I think. We lost and dropped to about 12th or 13th and struggled to climb the table after that.
