shockingly, I actually think that games that are designed to be about exciting adventures and fighting scary monsters are very fun, and I enjoy playing them.
I also think that the best way to play that kind of game is not to fight its design and instead use it for action and adventure.

The big issue is that you have a big audience for dnd, that don't actually like dnd.

And that sounds awful and gatekeepery and I hate it. But I do just want to tell people hey all this stuff you love about dnd. Like 100 different games do it way better.

Obligatory disclaimer:
I like games where you go in a scary hole to fight monsters and level up. I also like social games about PCs having emotions at each other. I even like games about queer topics.
My point is that this shit is dishonest marketing on hasbros part, because dnd is only the first.
