I can understand if you only see like an episode of season 1. I wouldn't of called it gratuitous myself hahaha, but that is me.

But I mean, idk...I especially don't get the "not much sci-fi" part even. You make a good point on the possible reasoning for the violence part though

Yeh, that is a worry of mine with this.
We are using a more dark friendly title prompt...I might be able to put a light texture underneath the rules text, framing it with the darker textures. Would give the book a bit more professional

A Question: Because of some of the coloring and what not in the book, I'm debating making it black background with white or light grey text for the pages (I know it messes with printability.) The question is, do you think this is acceptable?

Introduction

Imagine worlds folded into the dark recesses of ours.
Full realities that mirror ours in shadow,
though they have their own history, their own legends,

Their own cultures

Their own prejudices, their own creations

Their own physics.

These worlds, the Five Folds, exist in spaces only where monsters tread,
The Fae, the Yokai, Dark Eldritch Beings, the Undead, and Subterran Creatures.
These were all legends, myths to our reasoning...until we decided to tap into them, to use their worlds as a resource until our hubris lead to rips between us, and the pocket realms that are the Five Folds.

That is how our apocalypse began.

That is how and when our greed took over. We exploited the Folds as a resource, as a battery.
Draining what we thought as cheap and accessible energy, all it cost was our souls it would seem.

We exploited the working class to process this energy, though it was an extremely dangerous job, the Corporations refused to give the workers their fair pay; Humans as always the most disposable of resource.

Wasn’t long before the first Fold Generator would rupture, not only changing the plant, not only destroying the city, but ripping time-space.

The folds started to leak into our world, changing things as we understand. Our world stopped being our own, given to the folds, given to a new paradigm.

The Cities now walled off, many attempts were made to save humanity, or at least the Corporate Paymasters, many failed.

Welcome to our Apocalypse, Welcome to Urde.

My favorite sci-fi concepts honestly are the ones that blur biology and technology (in a consensual way I mean)
Or at least that's my favorite sci-fi concept that hasn't become somewhat real! (I grew up in the 80s and 90s, little kid me would have freaked out learning I have VR now!)

I think my brain glossed over that because I'm a midwesterner and have lived in Minneapolis, so gabbing crap to someone in ear shot but then acting super friendly when in conversation isn't something uncommon for me to see.

I'm confused....how do they think that SNW or Disco were gratuitously violent? And little to no science fiction? There is a whole season about the Disco Crew traveling past the edge of the galaxy to a planet to something that at one point would have been considered high concept sci-fi!

I know once I get the first book finally finished, the future ones will be easy for me to write the mechanics, make the factions, and format the book. It's this first one that has been going slowly hahaha.
