It causes me to get triggered easily.. I'm holding onto and trying to manage so many emotions that it only takes something small to make me lash out

I get frustrated because depression makes "the little things" so challenging... doing the chores or even having a shower is so hard because I'm so drained of energy.. It makes you feel like your best efforts are nothing.

Please understand that for many, depression can manifet itself as anger and irritability

I get frustrated that I'm not where I'm supposed to be in life... I'm trying so hard to keep up but I'm falling further behind because depression keeps getting in the way of everything

I get angry because depression is so debilitating and making me suffer so much.. but it's invisible to everyone else so it causes so many misunderstandings and so much conflict.

A feel good skeet

I had a roommate in college... he got burned really badly. Scars all over half of his face. People always asked him what happened, and he never told the same story twice. Me? I never asked him what happened. I never treated him like he was anything other than a human being.
We were roommates for three years. The year he was graduating, he came to me and said I was the only person who never asked him what happened, and who never looked at him funny. He said he had mad respect for that, and he told me the real story.
It was awful, and it's not my place to share it. But let it be a lesson. It doesn't matter what we look like on the outside... inside, we're still human beings.

People who go silent when something upsets or hurts them, are often experiencing a coping
mechanism called emotional withdrawal. It's not that they have nothing to say, it's that their system learned that silence is safer than being misunderstood. Instead of expressing anger or frustration, they hold it in.

Things I remember reading online that I wish I had screenshotted: Story of a trans guy, estranged from family, who got an invitation to his sister's wedding, but their parents had specified that he'd better come in a dress or not come at all. But they hadn't seen him in almost 7 years and didn't know that not only was he on T and had surgeries, he's a passionate weightlifter.
So if I remember right he sent the sister a heads-up beforehand and the sister was like "holy shit do it", and he showed up in a pink, frilly dress, and sneakers. No makeup, jewellery or anything, just this bulky, hairy dude in a dress for no particular reason.
Their parents, naturally, still got mad despite of him following their exact, specific instructions in order to "not embarrass the family", and after the wedding the sister made sure to pick as many photos of the wedding as possible with the brother visible in them, because it was now a funny family story of bringing the family together by pissing the shit out of their parents.

Upon arriving in Seattle, I purchased some flowers. The florist asked me "is it for someone special?" I then replied "No it's for myself". The florist then in turn replied "You're someone special". Who knew taking a simple walk would be such a heartwarming experience. [heart emoji]
