That's pretty much what happened in Hong Kong when I lived there. All the small independent bookshops where force out either by insane rent rises or consistent police raids both of which were orchestrated by the Government .

Went out to dinner . Got caught in a massive rain storm . Restaurant still had beer and I could see where I live from my chair . Decided wisely to stay because .. they had beer . I didn't make it to 60 without getting some sense

It's one of my favourite films and I saw the extended version at a supermarket one day so was very keen to watch it. There is a fair bit more near the end of the film. However it kills the pacing, I thought quite badly.
