Back from an ace We Have Ways festival, I was blown away by the response to my talk on WWII as sexual revolution. At the last minute I added material about the far right march - I believe telling the diverse truth of those who fought in the war is a powerful tool in combating the far right now (1/4)

my slight problem is that anything I read ends up in my nightmares – it's why I can't watch horror films, there's just no point. I should probably just stick to Max's Thomas collection for a good night's sleep.

oh yeah, I am permanently skint because I spend a fucking fortune on therapy – it works in that I no longer end up *REDACTED*, but alas does not help the brain horrors. My suspicion is it is to do with sleep apnea, but the waiting list for the NHS sleep clinic to investigate is extremely long

Haha! This is patently untrue because if I eat food on the other end of the spectrum sleep is even worse due to my insides roiling like the eternal flames of hell

It is absolutely horrible in places but I found it pretty riveting

Yep! That video is bonkers. As is the Judas Pig stuff about his pigeon success.

Also a good read is the official judgement when Hunt foolishly sued The Sunday Times for calling him a gangster, and lost

Oh man I’ve been on such a massive wormhole with him, highly recommend these two - Legacy the serious journalism on how he’s got away with it, Judas Pig the demented bleak novel about him by his former partner Jimmy Holmes. I normally don’t read gangster stuff but this is fascinating

Absolutely! And why not?

"Post you from a different era" is middle-aged Bluesky code for "lemme see you when you were hot"

I used to go to America a lot (was married to one) and as well as "I am related to William Wallace" auld country bollocks everyone (well, the sort of counterculture leftist types I was with) insisted they 100% definitely had Native American ancestry; of course many must but also

According to the bottom one there we're actually long-lost cousins?!

Just had to have a nap due to bad sleep from nightmares last night. Nap interrupted by a daymare in which a postman at the door was actually the headless form of Essex gangster Davey “Long Fella” Hunt barreling through it to kill me.

I would *love* to not have day/nightmares every time I sleep.

ha! Yes I suppose there is
luketurner.bsky.social
YES! Same, I love this record for the wildly OTT bleakness, strange deadpan delivery that makes it quite funny, and heavy exuberance of the music

water and oats but with tonnes of weird additives to make it vaguely convincing, all hidden behind appallingly twee packaging – "the no-milk generation" etc.
luketurner.bsky.social
I believe something similar is done with oat 'milk' to make it smooth and frothy for coffee. A scam!
