the 1st character is basically a background character im designing to show up for 5 seconds (maybe more if I get far in my fangame lol)

the second one is just something that feels like it could be canon and fits their dynamic (and Inui would proudly wear a shirt that says this 100% he's so cute 🥺💞)

this manga is always on my brain,,, i kind of knew i was going to spiral into it once i got attached to Inui but gosh i just love how much depth i can dig out of it, headcanon or not 🎶

Hikari being on the promotional poster...her having concept art...she is the last introduced but still gets a bit of special narrative attention...and she's the only person seen by the protag's side in the S2 teaser...

im already so invested in her character please I want to see more of her 🥺🥺🥺💞💞💞

I can't get a hard read on her personality but based on this she seems bubbly and spacey and honor-student-ish? kind of like a shoujo heroine who is naive and innocent?

the self she's shown so far is more "hero of justice" vibes w/ a side of chiding others + following rules to a T so hmm...

oh i just realized,,,, the concept art of the gal I thought was Kyoko,,, that's gotta be Hikari's concept art 🥺

oh gosh now im even MORE interested in Hikari considering there was already concept art of her this early on,,, girl what role do you play in this story when you've done nothing so far

also on my list of headcanons:

Hikari is usually pretty chill when she's not being fussy about rules/rule breaking but considering her closeness to Teiyo, her more polite behavior errs on the side of petty annoyance towards him in particular (esp. after he returns to the Numbers)

on my list of headcanons:

Teiyo happens to carry around candies made by a ranker under his command that helps detoxify the poison of his skill. He's usually very careful about not harming his allies, but there are times he fucks up and panics about it (thus him giving Hikari the candy here!)

Finished Teiyo&Hikari piece (+ some sketches of how i headcanon their dynamic)

Funnily enough, if Hiroya is Inui's/Kyoko's child and Hikari is Kyoko's sister, then Hikari and Teiyo would actually be Hiroya's aunt and uncle,,, which lines up pretty well with how i see them ngl

loyalty is what pissed him off in the first place, in the end respecting Hiroya's decision to stay loyal and even offering sincere words of warning to him in exchange...

man,,, I love how Teiyo goes from an eyeroll-worthy asshole to a character you actually feel respect for it's so cool of him 🥺💞

and instead you're convinced by the narrative to be offput by his childish rudeness and unempathetic delinquent attitude

...but then as he reveals to Hiroya he's more levelheaded than he appears, carried on the coattails of an amazing reputation and quick to show respect to the boy whose blind-

every time i revisit Teiyo's arc I'm impressed how by how I always get tricked into having the same thoughts on him

at first, he's just a whiny and bratty asshole character whose seeming cruelty + inferiority complex make him a ruthless, hotheaded bastard who you really don't sympathize with-

i don't have any hope that canon will see them interacting together beyond them once being each other's peers but considering they were once Numbers Four and Five together,,, I'd like to think they shared a mutual respect and could often be found bantering together in a friendly rivals kind of way 🥺

one of them follows rules even if it gets in the way of her duties, the other makes his own rules to achieve his...they're foils I tell you and I want them to be close!!!

also im not at all mean towards characters i adore but,,, i think it'd be nice angst material if Inui targets Hikari and him doing that is what finally causes Hiroya to turn against his idol and lose his rose-tinted glasses, questioning reality + getting angry at the man for his cruelty :D

I really hope Hikari becomes the next leader of the Numbers (explaining why she's side by side with him in the S2 preview) and is trying to help Hiroya with his grief (even if it means comedically getting him to follow the rules she sets in place considering how stringent she is about them)

If I get this far in my fangame I'd like to imagine this is a canon scene bc Hiroya having abandonment issues towards mentor!Hikari and getting overly attached to her because she's literally the only adult he has left to look up to and trust in breaks my heart for him :Dc
