Big Shoutout to @humanqube.bsky.social for hosting No Time To Loot (and @sidekickpublishing.bsky.social for support)!
If you're wondering why there's no time to loot, it's cause you gotta play all these cool games that are part of the event...

I do think there's value definitely, as laid out in the video. But the level of frustration caused by difficulty X will be different for different players. And then there's also some actual unfair nonsense (though the game as good enough for me to push through).
Very on point. Also agree strongly with the difficulty levels bit. While yes, you lose the "everyone shares the same experience" part, you can still have that via "hey, who else played on hard mode?" And those who wouldn't make it through with one single difficulty didn't get to share anyways...
Awesome job @gamesforwaves.bsky.social, glad to have been a small part of this! 🎉

It's done. More like "free yourself". 😆
Yep, that's the one. :)
My understanding is you either get invited by Humble or approach them with a "plan" for a bundle (and ideally already a few other devs on board). In this case it was the latter, initiated by a Let's! Revolution! dev (who then started a discussion about it on my Discord).
10k+ sold and €14k+ for the World Central Kitchen charity so far! 🥳

Now that I have some distance from my GDC talk, I think if I were to boil down my game design advice into a single sentence, it might be something like:

Focus less on adding stuff to your game, and more on developing connections between the stuff you already have.

Deep into act 2 at this point, and I'm utterly fascinated by the gaping contrast between its most brilliant moments and the wild amount of archaic to outright cruel design choices. All in all this might be the most memorable 6/10 ever in my book.

Anyways, have fun! :)
