Check out my latest Lube video. This is the "Lube Medley", also known as the Orchestra intro. While the music has been around for a while, I just compiled the video / pictures to go with the music, and ensured the words for each song are included. I hope you like...

There are 9 songs in the Lube web series that aren't in the play:
1. Gay Sex
2. Polyamory
3. Gaydar
4. Fags Make Me Sick
5. I'm Not Takin' Your Crap No More
6. Movie Buff
7. Peevish
8. What Are You Doing Here?
9. It's Obvious There's Something Wrong
Wonderful Brandon Bowerman composed the music.
There are 24 songs in Lube, all parodies of music from Grease. Below is a list of the songs and the Grease inspiration. Some may be a bit PG-13, but the show isn't intended for children. Lube was written for adults young and old, and remember: Just Love Yourself: The Rest Will Fall In Place.
I just uploaded my latest music video for "These Tragic Chains" (a parody of "These Magic Changes"). This song comes late in the play at Prom, where Andy finally realizes that he will never get to be with Manny.

Created last year for Facebook. I hope you enjoy.

If you would REALLY like to know more, the script and the music are on Amazon at www.amazon.com/stores/Jack-.... If you would like to help out as a producer, director, actor, or even fan, let me know. Kickstarter project? I would love to work with someone on the world premiere staging of the show!
So what else can I say about Lube? It's a parody, of sorts, of Grease. There are 24 songs in the stage play, each a direct parody of a song from Grease. They can be sung to the original music, but that's a copyright violation so I had Brandon Bowerman write all new music. And I'm glad I did!!
There are even some songs from Lube on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other streaming services. Try saying, "Alexa, play Lube by Jack Turner" for a sample of the theme song.
You can listen to most of the songs from Lube on SoundCloud. Some are fairly well produces, some are pretty terrible. But, it was the best we could do prior to the first public reading of the play. Use your imagination to see how they might sound on stage.

You can buy a huge variety of Lube merchandise at www.cafepress.com/shop/LubeMus.... You'll find something like 36 different designs to choose from!! It's mostly for marketing anyway, and I don't make much on any of it to keep the costs as low as possible.
And how about a Lube Board Game? Kind of a combination between a standard Monopoly-type layout finished by Trivia-driven football game at the end. Alas...those were the days, my friend.
Working with Victoria Turner back in the days before COVID, we even started to create a Lube Cookbook!! Sigh... maybe we'll get back to it one of these days.
It seems forever ago that we held the first public reading of Lube. Attendance was pretty light, and we had timing issues that need to be addressed, but it generally went over well. Still, now that I have retired, I can take a more active role once again in trying to get Lube back on track.
The Trevor Project says suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for young adults 15-24 (it's worse for LGBTQ+ kids). I wrote Lube as a new, out-of-the box solution to help address this. They can walk out of Lube saying, "They were gay. I'm gay. They lived happily ever after. That could be me!"
"Why Lube?" I grew up in a small town knowing the isolation and prejudice of being gay. One day I was watching Grease and thought, "Why isn't there something like this for the gay community?" Something fun, something to sing along with. There was nothing out there like it so I wrote it myself.
Lube is a gay-themed, Broadway-style musical that addresses the unique challenges of growing up gay. It addresses bullying, prejudice, and religious persecution, but also deals with friendship, changing attitudes, and acceptance – especially what is sometimes the hardest of all: self-acceptance.
I'd like to give a shout out to Brandon Bowerman, the wonderful composer who wrote all the music for Lube. It's been far too many years now, but I love all of the music he wrote. You'll find samples of his work in the music videos below. Thanks, Brandon!!

So, the Lube web site is kind of a mess. Another COVID screw up...and while it's totally my fault, recovery has been slow.

Here is a link to a episode of "The Gays of Our Lives", a short-lived community access program I created with Victoria Turner -- again, cut short by COVID. This is the last episode aired, and it's a tribute to Lube: A Modern Love Story.
