In the US there are about 60-70 million cases per year. 400k federal cases.
So, everytime someone is declared innocent instead of automatic conviction made based on vibes makes for a very large number.
Hundreds of thousands is actually a huge understatement.
You seem to think that the benefits of getting rid of that principle are so great.
The reality is you're way closer to be fucked badly by the system if someone's accusations is enough to condemn you than if the accusation has the burden of proof. So no, I'm not backing. Believing is not enough.
For every case you bring up, there are tens of thousands of innocent people being exonerated in all sorts of trials (murder, theft, assault, whatever) so I'm not giving up a core principle of justice for some rich and famous assholes that got away.
It doesn't tho. It manages to create justice everyday for teens of thousands of situations. Justice, however, is an extremely complicated thing and a lot of cases might be resolved unsatisfactory. Your solution however (calling rapist anyone without proof) is way worse. So yep, sit there.
Some people shouldn't have social networks
It's about the principle. It doesn't mean that the current judiciary system or that all particular judges are impossible to improve. Or that in some cases there has been blatant negligence if not worse.
You interpreted the "it's the best we can do" in the worst sense possible given the context of what this person said. It clearly means that a justice system (for any crime or offense) can't be just based on belief due to the fact that humans can lie.
Don't get me wrong, I do believe them. Specially when there are multiple accusations.
I think that guy is scum and abusing his position and wealth to smear those women.
But a conviction requires more than beliefs.
I hope they can prove everything and the guy goes to jail for a long time.
The legal system relies on the idea that the burden of proof lies in the accusation.
That is particularly problematic in cases in which the evidence can't be anything more than testimony, because it's easy to get away free, but it's an important protection against false accusations in general
KAT will not violate the principle of no-contradiction, thus complying with the laws of logic and reality.
La leí online. Está descatalogada, ¿no?
Muy muy bien, me encantó
Just wait until it's Denver
Well, reality is shaped disproportionally by right wing media. Oh surprise!
Ah ok, she's white and blond, which automatically gives you a pass.
Kobylarczyk? And you are calling ICE?
Well, he means THEIR right to say whatever they want, not yours. As with everything else.
But of course. After all, isn't that what all leftist voters really want? The certainty of knowing that big corp and landlords will always be able to use private property to be incredibly rich and live at the expense of the working class? Everything is as it should be! 😊
Wait wait wait... Do you mean societies can decide... No no you can't possibly mean that!
Oh wow jumping to conclusions about who I am

So you don't get to tell people why they believe in something. Maybe it means that to you (and maybe for good reason) but it's obviously not what they are defending and pretending it is is either bad faith or stupidity.
No, what I'm saying is that if somebody is a communist and uses the symbol is not because of the blood, the gulags and etc. They probably hate it too.
Whatever ideas you defend, I'm sure a lot of people have committed atrocities under them that you despise.
A glorious struggle for victory for their race is already an extremely alarming point of view. We agree on what means to be a Nazi and it's hideous.
You two not podcasting together (or with Mal) is a crime against humanity, so please don't let him fall sick again.
