The last time I did this to kill time

It’s turns out I bore too easily to do stop motion but it was a fun way to kill some time. There is way too much stuff in the mug on my desk.

I did woodworking for years on the back porch of my apartment and made guitars every summer! Now my “shop” is our second bedroom in the upstairs of an 1800’s house that my spouse and I live in
A guitar neck clamped to the porch beams on the back porch of my old apartment, a long view showing how little space there is An overhead view of the small porch with a guitar neck being worked on clamped to the railing. A small workmate is nearby. A cluttered workroom stuffed with a lot of our creating tools we’ve accumulated. A five foot workbench is against the right wall. It’s a fisheye shot, the room is about 11’ x 15’ A fisheye shot from the other side of the workroom, it’s the only way to catch it all. There are posters in the angled ceiling, and you can catch that the guitar stand and stacks of milkcrates are on casters so they can roll around. There’s a work table next to the heavy bench.

I just saw the Lee Valley box makers plow plane; how did I miss they had released this? I like my big ol’ wedge arm wooden plow plane, and my Mujingfang is nice in a pinch when I need metric irons but this thing would be handy to have around, a cute little modern version of the Record 043 ?

Trick I learned from Roy Underhill’s show!

Their entire gameplan seemed to revolve around punishing jump ins and my advancing specials … so I just didn’t do that. I’m getting better!

Played against a Juri player in SF6 and was struggling until I discovered they had no idea how to react to a walk up throw. So I just did that like … a lot? After the third or fourth throw in a row it’s kind of on you to react different.

Oh I hadn’t thought about Mason Brothers themselves, just Five Corners. I’ll check that out. Is there still one heading up towards Essex Town too?

So I really really like the trackballs at work but it turns out I just not really like them for what I do at work, at home and working in Logic I just like the Magic Mouse and the laptop trackpad. So now I have an extra trackball that maybe I would like more if it wasn’t a notched scroll wheel.

Thanks. I hadn’t put a lot of thought into it, that brings it back into perspective.

I have all the accessories, and a USB PD on the back of my bench, but I’m not really bringing out less; I think I just need to find a better storage situation for my station.

Also guess who acid didn’t re-ground her bridge when she replaced a broken tone pot and had been inadvertently relying on a noise gate

What’re folks opinions of the USB C mini soldering irons, like the Pinecil? This is the soldering station I’ve used for twenty years, and while I don’t think I’ll replace it, I’m thinking something a little smaller for quick jobs might be nice?

Any local Chittenden County Vermont folks know what antique stores are good for hand tools these days? I haven't rust hunted in a while.

Watching old ST videos with Mike Muir just tearing it up makes me realize I need to do cardio so I can bring it again.

I’m so glad I finally took the jump.

Decided to put the hollow and one of the snipes bills to use and try a different profile
A bead or b the edge of a stick of pine. In the background a couple of handplanes and hammer lie Checking the profile halfway thru A warrington pattern hammer laying on the beaded molding with the snipes bill and hollow plane used to make it

Brief video of a few of the steps in making that molding from my previous post. I left a lot out, maybe I’ll make a better document of this next time.

It all starts with rabbets to guide the rounds plane.

Baby’s first handout moldings and the tools used.
Some sort of molding profile cut into some clear pine. The end is a little messed up. Another view before burnishing The three tools used - a marking gauge, a rabbet plane and a small round plane.
