Busts of Jayce and Viktor, with their heads split open, sharing a single skull with arcane corruption all over it. There are butterflies fluttering around them, they're also surrounded by Zaun's smoke and Piltover's clouds. The skyline of Piltover crowns the piece, aligned with an arcane explosion right at the bottom center.
A blue tiefling playing the oboe surrounded by golden columns and lilac tiefling in the middle of a bloody swamp framed by soft turquoise walls
An elf? holding two swords and being pierced by two more standing between columns that turn into tree roots and a ??? thing ??? stepping on a giant scolopendra in the middle of a gothic archway with seven skulls above them My OC Eliott sitting atop a broken statue that is holding a sword and a quill. There's a crack on the face of the statue, with a skull peeking from underneath. Eliott is reaching for the quill but his other hand hovers over the sword. Gideon Nav and Harrowhark Nonagesimus holding hands and looking at each other. It seems as if Harrow is about to fall and Gideon is catching her. Two spears pierce through their linked hand and the blood pouring from them is dying Harrow's scarf red. It looks like bloody wings.

Right? Same!
If you look at brain science that's also why we developed as storytellers in the first place: to learn from the experiences of others in a safe environment and to expand on our social intelligence
louistonehill.bsky.social
Most people want diverse stories with something to say, with a democratic perspective, where there is no purity testing of gender and space for people of colour, and morality is portrayed in a rainbow, not in black and white

Whatever else annoys me, this gives me hope
louistonehill.bsky.social
Why? Because the majority of people Love stories that are non-conforming, critical of society, and fight for a better climate.
They're not about the patriarchal family structure, or the glory of a white man. They're not even about the wonders of technology
louistonehill.bsky.social
One of the things that excites me about the future is the type of stories that are really, statistically measurably, popular:

- Miyazaki
- The Owl House
- The Magnus Archives
- KPop Demon Hunters

Identity can be redefined through textiles and tradition.

That's what APTN’s Stéphanie de Sève discovered when she met with the members of the Mode Autochtone Design Collective just before their fashion show during Montreal's Fashion Week.

Makes sense!
I'm guessing there's also the added benefit of not as many north-western europeans being a public menace -.-

Luck!!
I can always ship you some next year if it's difficult to find 😂

And I am so grateful to have grown up with that privilege of not having teachers like that, who prioritised their own voices over that of their students
louistonehill.bsky.social
This is a privilege I often take for granted, and I tend to critique it because it could be even better, but...

I think about that young woman, having to sit through years and years of that man's horrible preaching after what people who agreed with him did to her family and her people
louistonehill.bsky.social
Exam papers are graded by outside teachers, not by the ones in the institution. Teachers are not allowed to show their ideological position in any way during class or at the school. Because the students' free development is the priority
louistonehill.bsky.social
This is a story that has always shocked me because between then and... well 20 years ago, when I went to school, a lot of rules and laws and reglations have been created to protect students from their teachers' opinions
louistonehill.bsky.social
Anyway, the jewish woman would always wear her star of david prominently, except for during classes, so the teacher never knew she was jewish.
Until she got her diploma, graduating at the top of her class.
As the teacher handed her the paper, she thanked him and pulled out her pendant
louistonehill.bsky.social
He was apparently the head of the danish nazi party at the time, and the principal at the high school was also part of the party (so when the students tried to get the teacher sacked, they were rebuffed).
louistonehill.bsky.social
So my mother sometimes tells this story about how she went to school with a jewish woman.
This is 40 years ago now, but even back then it was more okay for the right wing to be openly right wing. And there was a math teacher who was openly nazi during class

It's a really tenacious little weed, so I'm trying to grow seeds before the summer ends, so I can bring them with me if I ever move
louistonehill.bsky.social
Oooh that's interesting! Can't speak for those, obviously

Go for it! I tend to follow traditional chinese medicine lists of foods that are heating or cooling, depending on the season, and I drink A Lot of matcha in the summer for this reason, but this kind of blew my mind?

I mean if they're nordic it's probably the Sauna test fucking with their brains

As for chickweed. It's a herb that can be used for heat rash, and I've found when I drink it, or mix it with olive oil to rub on my skin, I end up cooling down so much I start shivering (Even in 25+degrees)
