If I ever get round to doing a museum studies masters I’m going to have Stockholm as a case study! It’s payday on Sunday so next week I’m planning a big week of museum visits! So excited!

Today’s after-work adventure was the Nationalmuseum, which was more what I’d call a national art gallery - mostly paintings and sculpture and also crafts, jewellery, furniture etc. Really good, amazing things engagingly displayed. #thewayfaringpath #sweden #stockholm #gallery

Rush hour in #stockholm - I shit you not. This was about 5:30pm today, in a central part of the city. Lots of ferries, busses, trains, bikes, and the few cars there are aren’t sitting in a traffic jam. It’s almost as if prioritising #publictransport is a good thing eh?! #thewayfaringpath #sweden

Our last two weeks in the UK (till Christmas)

Regan had arranged a cat-sit in Andover - down south, about an hour from London, so I had a lovely breakfast with my new archaeology mates, then I left the island and headed to Berwick-upon-Tweed and a train to Newcastle.

I had wondered if I was a bit “museumed-out” but no. Of course not! I went to the Historical Museum and it was an absolute MASTERCLASS in making an engaging and informative place to spend many hours. This is all the nails from a boat, suspended to show the shape 🤯 #thewayfaringpath #sweden #museum

Oh that's so cool! I'd love to stay in the centre. We are about a 15 minute train ride away, which is still fab, but it'd be awesome to be right in the middle of things!

Had a lovely arvo wandering around Gamla Stan (old town) in #stockholm. Managed to choose an eye-wateringly expensive cafe for our #fika (coffee and cake) by mistake, but other than that it was delightful! Such a calm city. Love it! #thewayfaringpath #sweden #travel #europe #photograohy

I’m wondering if it’s a numbing cream they use - I assumed injection at the time. The dentist leaned in and whispered “Swedes are very sensitive!”. Blimey a filling without a jab is pretty intense!

Only 15 mins from the centre of #Stockholm and this is my morning view! Such a lovely forested city. I’ve been to the dentist today for a clean and they were VERY surprised I didn’t have anaesthesia. Us kiwis just tough it out I guess! #Sweden #travel #thewayfaringpath
