When people-pleasing music journalist Addie DiMarco is assigned a last-minute interview with pop star Jacob Prizer, she plans to keep it quiet that she used to be a megafan of Jacob’s now-defunct boy band. After a flop of a solo debut, Jacob’s manager wants him to enter a PR relationship to make him desirable again. Allured by Addie’s personality, Jacob convinces her to be his date to a gala. When the public responds well, one date becomes a 4-month contract.

As they get to know each other over weeks of public outings, they realize that faking it isn’t as easy as it seems. I feel like I should say more but truth be told I don’t know what to say outside of pasting in the thesaurus listing for “excited”! Thrilled! Cheesed! Mostly though I’m looking forward to the future and hopefully getting Seeing Stars on shelves in a year that starts with a 2 :D

Writers, we have to let go of synonymizing everything. A little repetition is okay. Not all nouns even have exact synonyms, and we dont need to invent them. I would rather read the words “ice cream” three dozen times a page than the “sweetened coolness” I just read.
