Two boughs of a large twisted tree reach out across the image from the left. Through the bare branches you can see a harbour with a lighthouse, pier and a few houses. The artists uses sepia, grey and brown umber colours to suggest that it is dark, the lighthouse light is just visible. They have used a pen technique, like on etchings to give texture to the tree, rooftops etc.
