September 13th was my second wedding anniversary with Peach, and today, my friend selene-lunette gifted me this wonderful illustration of me and Peach holding hands, representing the Sun and the Moon. I have no words to express the sheer beauty of this work. It's perfect 💛🩷

Sure, but it's still important to criticize the titans of the industry instead of worshipping them like messiahs. And what he said along with much else he's said, still gives me the vibe that he sees art more as capital than anything
Actual nonsense. This is not how an artist thinks.
Miyamoto sees games as toys rather than art. Great developer at his time, but people give his thoughts far too much credit.

Using this, @jaikhay.bsky.social found another iteration of The Queen's design in that early demo (disc version dated June 6th, 2001).

The headdress here is far more elaborate than even the feathered one seen in Game Informer's screenshots. And this is our best look at her tattered cloak of shadow.
Every few months something happens in my brain and I start thinking about Bloodborne all over again.
Rewatched the three endings in Bloodborne and they're all so good. My favorites are Childhood's Beginning and Honoring Wishes because of the implications they have for the relationship between the Hunter and the Doll.

Violet just has a bunch of metallic pokémon. It's so bad 💀
On a side note, I found it funny how they changed the color of Simon's wife's hair in the remake, probably to avoid comparisons with Jonathan and Erina from JoJo.
I'm happy to have finally played both versions of Haunted Castle. Revisited was a great surprise from Dominus Collection, and it shows how talented the developers at M2 are. I hope they continue to create more games in the series, and I hope they get the chance to develop an original title.
The controls are very satisfying, the enemies are great, and the game is very balanced, too. Bosses are on the easier side of the spectrum, but they still provide enough challenge to be interesting. The music was also a good surprise.

Revisited, as I already mentioned, feels more like an original game than a remake, but the presence of similar ideas (level themes, enemies, etc) makes it easier to see it as a different version of Haunted Castle. +
and it would be hard for the developers of the arcade version to take inspiration from Castle 3, aside from this game being inspired by Simon's adventure, not Trevor's. Thematically, I really liked the selection of levels and their visuals.

and Haunted Castle managed to be very faithful to the Castlevania formula. I felt like there was a certain lack of focus on the platforming gameplay, compared to the action, but that wouldn't be a fair comparisson since Castlevania 3 was released in the same year, +
So far, it's my favorite "classicvania" after Castlevania 3, which I didn't expect at all.

I don't know if that's just my perspective, but I haven't seen that many platformers in arcades, so it's always interesting to see how the genre is translated to that environment, +
Revisited, on the other hand, was incredibly surprising. It's a little hard to call it a remake when it is fundamentally so different from the original, besides using similar ideas for the levels and enemies. +
While I don't like being negative in this series of posts, I would be lying if I didn't say that Haunted Castle was the worst game I played this year. My expectations were already low, and the game still found a way to surprise me by being even worse than I expected. +
Arcade Weekend #5: Haunted Castle / Haunted Castle Revisited

Another "double feature" weekend, where I got to play both the original version of Haunted Castle and its remake. What an experience it was.

Did Kasumi wake up in DOA Xtreme???
I miss when DOA looked like this

I'll never forgive Game Freak for gender locking the rival, but the number of people I've seen roleplaying Paxton as a trans girl has been one of the most amazing events of this month.
Ace Attorney Wiki also needs a better spoiler policy, but, at the very least, they don't put major spoilers in the first paragraph of a wiki page/article like the megaten one.
I looked at Megami Tensei Wiki and sighed
