I'm standing in the parking lot of a giant shopping center waiting for a bus. It's been 5 years almost to the day since I sold my car and looking around at this sea of vehicles I have no regrets. I no longer have thousands of pounds of metal I have to lug with me everywhere.

Once again feeling deflated by all the Big Things I want to do that I am for all intents and proposes too incompetent to do. It's the "for all intents and purposes" part that's hard. Many of these things my brain is quite capable of working on every 7th week or whatever, but I need more than that.

I'm doing some metadata cleanup on the >=2020 songs in our music collection and we have Stories covering Rick Astley, and Rick Astley covering Chappell Roan...this kind of has me wanting to create the longest A covering B, B covering C, C covering D... chain I can come up with.

That's sort of what I like about Um, Actually. I haven't the faintest clue about any details of almost any property they bring up, but I love watching the panel geek out about it and get all passionate and stuff.

I decided that setting up all those plugins and doing all the automations and shit from scratch would still less of a hassle than straddling 2 DAWs (or worse, 2 machines). So all of my active projects are now in Reaper in some form. Yay!

I was able to export-midis-and-wavs on 2 more of these projects and start Reaper projects for them. That leaves me with two projects that are a little trickier as plugins and automation are a core part of what they are.

"I like to keep multiple music projects going at once so if I stall on one thing I can jump over to another one" is all well and good until you find yourself moving your music production over to a completely different platform and DAW.

Oh yeah I got that little camera to take to protests and stuff. I really like the size, although the trade-off is that it doesn't handle particularly ergonomically. Taking photos is fine, it just feels a little awkward.

Taking it with me to the ICE protest tomorrow. Hopefully just for testing.
