Exceptions:
• If your work permit expires in Oct. 2026, it is still valid.
• If you applied for a work permit before Feb. 6, 2025, it’s automatically extended for 540 days.

Now is a great time to talk to an immigration attorney about your options.
But your end date depends on when you signed up:
• If you signed up in 2021, your TPS expires Nov. 7, 2025.
• If you signed up in 2023, your TPS already expired, but some exceptions may be in play.
Important information for our immigrant neighbors from Venezuela. If you have Temporary Protected Status (TPS), either in 2021 OR 2023, know that TPS is ending.
Excepciones:

Search Laurie Davison on our website to learn more about her legacy, which included two trips to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Our deep gratitude belongs to Scott and his wife Barbara, along with Kathie Farhione and Laurie's contemporaries, among the most brilliant legal minds in our organization's storied history, who made the time to witness this occasion: Jerry Lane, Mike Fargione, Eric Janus, Kathleen Davis, Anne Henry—
Scott shared these words as he parted with this cherished artifact of Laurie's legacy, "You know, I have a lot of nostalgic value for some things, but I decided the nostalgic value here is not nearly as much as the possible useful value in having this briefcase be used by a Legal Aid lawyer."
—She (Robertson) does it in the same way Laurie did with that passion for justice while also supporting lawyers with less experience and treating them well in that process.”
Former Deputy Director Ann Cofell agreed wholeheartedly with consensus that Anne be the recipient of Laurie's briefcase, “Laurie would be so proud of Anne and the work she does.—
Anne championed the effort to dedicate the library to Laurie's legacy, and according to those who knew both Laurie and Anne, she has carried on the verve and passion for legal challenges just as Laurie did.
Scott was Laurie's husband, who along with their two sons survived Laurie following her passing from pancreatic cancer in 1997. The presentation took place in what is now known as the “Laurie Davison Memorial Civil Rights Law Library” on the third floor of our Minneapolis offices.
Attorney Anne Robertson got the surprise of a lifetime. The briefcase that once belonged to legendary Legal Aid Attorney, and star Litigator, Laurie Davison was presented to Anne by Dr. Scott Dyer.

As Latine Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re highlighting the voices of our colleagues. Hear from Belky Hernandez, Karen Ortiz and Dania Barrera Carrasco as they share what their Latine heritage means to them.

"Being Latino is pride in where I come from and commitment to lifting others as I move forward. I help people navigate FMLA, job searches, career growth. It's more than paperwork, it’s ensuring people know their rights, feel seen & are protected from injustice." - Jesus Segovia
#LatineHeritageMonth
It’s knowing that when our communities are targeted, we speak up, and we show up for each other.

Latine heritage isn’t just history- it’s us, right now, in how we are choosing to show up in the world."
