The lonely Magellan of disreputable exploitation cinema. Death merchant and amateur onion peeler. I like things that look like mistakes. He/him.

After Kent worked hard to transfer a ton of info to me, my computer was like "nah," which is why there have only been new DC updates lately, not old stuff being archived.
So, we have a website work in progress thanks to @lanna.bsky.social which you can find here: bestalbum.neocities.org A lot of it is there, but there’s still more to come. If you look at the bottom, you’ll find a list of previous winners with links to the Challonge bracket.
I ultimately found a couple that stumped him (the Judas Breed from MIMIC, Inga the chimp from PHENOMENA)
I adore Cave, I think his run from TENDER PREY to THE BOATMAN'S CALL is one of rock music's greatest hot streaks, and I think a lot of his later-period stuff is really interesting.

NO MORE is easily his weakest, most muddled album IMO. A clear transitional work where he's trying a lot of stuff.
If you don't like Nick Cave, NO MORE SHALL WE PART is not likely to be the album to change that.
Also good! But there's something in the drug-damaged and death-haunted GILT that I can't shake off.
I've said this before, but I'm pretty sure I've heard this album more than any of the band members have at this point.
The album cover of GILT by Machines of Loving Grace. A blonde lady, clad in a burgundy jacket and a burgundy skirt cut just above the knee, is lying on the roof of a car. The jacket has opened to reveal a white silk blouse. Her eyes are closed, and the windshield of the car is shattered. The intimation is that she has jumped to her death from a great height and landed on the roof of the car.
It's so damn self-serious!
I just it to correctly figure out the judge from MY COUSIN VINNY???
People took this movie seriously? Like, six Oscar nominations seriously?
It got to Lionel Cosgrove, the lead character in Peter Jackson's DEAD ALIVE, after like 15 vague questions. What sort of voodoo is this.
Glenn Close is an attractive woman, so why is she shot and lit in that first party scene to look as cadaverous as possible?
About to watch FATAL ATTRACTION, a film I've never seen but imagine will hold zero surprises for me at this point - both because of its permeation into the culture and because I read the Mad Magazine parody of it about a hundred times.
This team also thought it was a riot to see Jenny McCarthy sitting in an alarmingly large pool of period blood, so... yeah, you're probably right
(Note: I have never seen any of Derrickson's horror films. I think the only film of his I've seen is his DOA remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.)
I think EMILY ROSE improves greatly if you think of it as leaving space for The Grabber
Ooh, you're watching PRINCE OF DARKNESS?
It's mind-boggling that nobody looked at the dailies and said, "hey, uh... do you think that Carmen could NOT do what she's doing?"
THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE
SUSPIRIA
HALLOWEEN
I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE
Quote this with the first four Horror movies that come to your mind that are 10/10s for you. No cheating. Just the first four that pop into your head.

I'll go first:
-Silence of the Lambs
-I Saw the Devil
-Coherence
-Jaws
Ended up looking up the writer and... wow, that is a small but bizarre CV
No, but I saw the trailer twenty or thirty times before it came out!
Decent movie! Great Karloff performance.
I totally forgot that JOE was nommed for a Screenplay Oscar.
Hartnett all-timer there
Just built a 2025-in-progress list:
