I hear you about "diminishing." I also like to suggest that it makes one feel illegitimate, when one is in fact just as legitimate, and sometimes even more. And this is what I say to other scholars about why this issue is so important.

Yeah. I just don't know what the answer is. Presumably more OA books? But I certainly don't see professional orgs taking any action here. There primary purpose these days seems to be self-perpetuation.

Yes. Library access comes up constantly & so few people seem able to address it. A few years ago I had some in-depth conversations w/ librarians (those best qualified to address it IMHO) & the push was towards open access across the board. We feel further away from that now than we were then.

Medievalists, can anyone suggest a good example of a critical edition / apparatus for a florilegium? Thanks!

How widespread were medieval technological objects, and who owned them? Read about where they were found in medieval households in a new DALME feature essay by Dan Smail. dalme.org/features/a-n...

I hear you. And frankly I think most of what people know about my work has been in the digital realm anyway. I guess that there IS however something good about the process of peer review. My writing and argumentation was sharper after that process.

Members of Congress should call him out on his rhetorical strategy of impugning those who expose his lies; ”I am not going to be chastised because you did something wrong,” is my go-to on that middle-school move.

There is a big sink hole on the P street on-ramp to Rick Creek parkway that could use some attention. I wish they would make their way over there.
