Completely forgot I had an account here, so time to make my first post!

Here is some of the promotional art for N.I.P. - short for Nal in Peril, a game made using the Inform Engine and availible on lapsah.itch.io/nip

There isn't any need to try to compromise with the censorship position on this, at all - period. The first game called out was legal, all other games banned were legal. This isn't people being banned from sites, it is an effort to remove the economic viability of content creation.
lapsa.bsky.social
And as a reminder, to be clear, we are talking about fully legal (at least as of writing this) fictional content involving fictional creations in fictional scenarios. We are talking about people censoring something for what popular media like GTA or Game of Thrones or Family Guy have in spades.
lapsa.bsky.social
Also want to append by saying that every time I see someone in a space I'm in talk about creating an alternative platform or using their own existing and contacts to help artists I immediately contact them. So far I've not found a single viable alternative for all content creators.

The template here should be generic enough to work for most orgs and sites: anti-censorship-campaign.carrd.co#localnews

Also, please remember to be polite when writing an email to either orgs or content creators. Especially if you edit it also remember to read it over again after.
Anti Censorship Campaign
Collective action against payment processors unjustly restricting our purchases.

I wrote personalized edits of templates to each of these sites, based on their own reporting and the fact that I am not just a consumer of content - but someone who has been creating in this space for well over a decade now. However if people want to help they can find templates to send to orgs.

Its important to keep the pressure up, and the more people that are aware of this issue and how to make a stand against it - the stronger that pressure can be. There are a lot of problems in the world, I know - some seem insurmountable. However, this is one we can overcome!
lapsa.bsky.social
I know its a long shot, especially given how small bluesky is as a site and how difficult it is to get any exposure here what-so-ever - but if you also are someone that has a vested interest in protecting creative expression then please consider also reaching out to these folks.
lapsa.bsky.social
I just want them to talk about this issue and mention what people can do to fight against it. I want to be free to make a living and be able to do what I am good at and love, making content for my audience and growing that audience! I just want the right to live in peace.
lapsa.bsky.social
I'm not trying to land some interview with these people (though I AM a content creator impacted by this). I'm not looking for a 'free shout out'. I am trying to help bring attention to an issue these people should be taking just as seriously as myself.
lapsa.bsky.social
Propublica has published no article to my knowledge, nor have any of the other news orgs or blogs I mentioned (if I'm missing it, feel free to point it out - its possible one has been posted without me being able to find it).
lapsa.bsky.social
I've only heard back from a single one of the content creators I've reached out to, and only gotten a response back from Propublica as far as outlets. The content creator has actually covered the censorship issue when it first happened, but not ways to push back against it or done a follow-up.
lapsa.bsky.social
This also includes some content creators not on this site, such as prominent progressive streamers and independent media. I've even sent a letter to the UNWomen subgroup since 'collective shout' was reaching out to them to make commentary on this matter and help pressure artists into silence.
lapsa.bsky.social
These are all content creators and news orgs that have expressed sex positive and anti-censorship views in the past, however only two of them have even bothered to respond to me - saying that they probably won't cover it. I can't speak as to why, and can only speculate and guess.
lapsa.bsky.social
I don't get a lot of reach here compared to FA or itch, but in regards to the anti-censorship movement regarding payment processors. I've reached out to several news orgs and content creators in hopes of having them cover the censorship wave that seems to only grow with each passing week.
lapsa.bsky.social
Effectively ban all artwork and dissent made by people that they can't easily control, then make it so that only the LLMs they made can provide such services. It is just a blatant monopolization of culture.
adactivity.bsky.social
This is cool after the war on everything called “porn” by platforms and payment processors. A machine that stole all your words can generate and sell “erotica” but you can’t haaa
mattburgess1.bsky.social
Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
lapsa.bsky.social
This is absolutely insane. Banks and payment processors are putting more effort into debanking content creators for fictional content than they've ever put into cracking down on real actual harm. Make no mistake that the end goal of this is to be able to control art and speech alike.

Per Reddit: Steam adult developer in the UK is sitting on a USD equivalent of six figures, can’t find a bank to take his money because the developer creates adult games

I develop adult video games on Steam. I can't find a bank that will actually let me withdraw my money from Steam. Can I get some advice?
Game has sold quite well on Steam. I've got almost £90,000 ready to withdraw after Steam's cut + VAT taken off.

However, it's been 2 months now and I can't find ANY bank in the UK who will let me withdraw my money from Steam. I've been banned/refused/unable to get a business account with:

Wise
Revolut
Monzo
Monese
Chase
Starling
Nationwide
Halifax
Barclays
Lloyds
RBS

It always comes down to, "Where did you get this money from?"

"It's coming from games I sell on Steam."

"Can we see the store page?"

"Sure."

"I'm sorry, we can't do business with you at this time."

It keeps coming down to a commercial decision purely because I make adult content.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I've pretty much exhausted the whole banking system. I just want to be able to be paid for products I've sold.

I had done this a while ago, kind of uploading stuff out of order.

Fun Fact: A lot of powdered Cinnamon is contaminated with lead due to the fact that suppliers often use it as a filler in order to make more money!

Don't worry though, Swirls is completely heavy-metal free.

I absolutely love food fauna.

I was coaxed into getting a Bluesky because I didn't really use social media much beyond the art gallery I post to, and of course itch - and was told that it would help massively in growing my audience. Instead as soon as I become active and months after getting an account the CEO self-sabotages.
lapsa.bsky.social
Having been around for a while, one of the problems is that a lot of new sites that emerge also have a lack of professionalism among those that run them, leading to much the same issue while at the same time balkanizing communities further. I'm honestly unsure of how to really address that fully.
acvalens.net
tbh what needs to happen is the foundation and formation of a PDS focused entirely on adult artwork, and then a significant amount of the userbase on Bluesky that enjoys adult content pledges to migrate to that PDS to remove some of the control / centralized power bsky social has

I don't think this site is run well enough, has enough engagement, or has enough users to even pretend its smart to imply in a mocking way that not posting here would hurt any but the site.

Maybe rather than making witless retorts to random users the leadership should focus on competent management?
jay.bsky.team
You could try a poster’s strike. I hear that works
lapsa.bsky.social
You know it isn't a great sign when the CEO of a social media company doesn't seem to understand how social media websites generally make money.

Are you paying us? Where?

They literally mention education context as an exception in the excerpt they gave. It is in regards to sex toys - but the implication is that educational contexts are themselves an exception, no?

Also, have to mention how oddly specific the first rule there is about VR.
acvalens.net
My bad Twitch, didn't realize sex education material was banned. tf
