Yes! This! I recently was thinking about this with some friends and said, there are 2 experiences of art: the Making and the Seeing. What the maker wants and experiences is theirs, really. The Seeing is a separate thing and belongs to *you* and *your* eyes.

i think fandoms often forget the core of what they are, which is a community to appreciate art. fandoms get so caught up on canon that they're scared to interpret and extrapolate. it doesnt matter what the creator said or, frankly, even what they wanted. art exists in the heart of the observer.
