Happily married Scottish cat-slave, mum to two wonderful people, vehemently anti-Brexit & heartily sick of corruption in politics & the greed in all sectors. City girl all my life but now love the Somerset countryside. More good books please.

My heart aches for trans people who are now more fearful than ever. The vast majority just want to live a normal life, under the radar, but in a gender different to that assigned to them at birth. This ruling won’t help them do that.
A poster staring “Reminder that trans people are deserving of dignity, respect and safety” followed by an addendum ‘You are loved’

Of course, always the way! I finally made the special trip to Antwerp last month as a tourist having been on a few work trips there in the past, could see it was a special place, very beautiful city. So one day Hull for you! 🤗

Want to spend the morning reading a good book with a cup of coffee and cat on lap… but must get up, do Pilates, go to class, then more painting of soffits… and an evening meeting! And it is in person, not on Zoom. Sigh.

Atmospheric, lovely. We have grey - again. Maybe a bit brighter than Wednesday which was a bit brighter than Tuesday which was a lot brighter than gloomy, dark, Monday …

Sending hugs, you seem to be having a bit of a tough time 🫂

Must watch that, hadn’t noticed it until you mentioned it.

How marvellous - love serendipity (not your actual lost copy, I take it? That would be a miracle!) 😄

Reminds of the Alexi Sayle quote

"Austerity is the idea that the global financial crash of 2008 was caused by there being too many libraries in Wolverhampton."

Very fond of Hull, relative was a professor at the university, and later my elder child did their Chemistry degree & Masters there. Love the old cobbled streets & narrow archways in the old High Street. The Minster & square is fabulous.

It was well done. Never been a big fan of musicals on stage or screen but it was cleverly managed. I now want to find out more detail of the various individual stories that came out (eg the American woman whose firefighter son was killed in the disaster - he went In voluntarily, wasn’t on duty).

Oh yes, Testament of Youth - had a big impact on me too. The stifling pre-war life demanded of a upper middle-class young woman and the absolute tragedy of war - yes, the scale. I’ve re-read it a few times, and the follow-up book Testament of Experience (?)

Not sure people would say Pride & Prejudice is an influential book - very well written and a great book, a favourite perhaps, but not influential.

God, that’s a hard one! Most influential (not favourite) - Animal Farm perhaps? A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseni much more recently - horrifying yet somehow uplifting.

As a kid, The Silver Sword affected me for days. And of course the Narnia series.

Oh God, that’s awful. when I had labrynthitis I was terrified it was Menieres. The BPPV exercises they gave me to do just made it worse, felt so sick. After a few days I was ok if I just sat & looked straight ahead or at a screen, walking was tricky but slowly got better. Hope you feel better soon

2/ the story of the 5 days from 9/11 of 38(?) planes grounded for 5 days in Gander, Newfoundland (yes, odd subject for a musical). Now to research the story more!

Class this am, more painting, evening mtg locally 😫. OH home from London trip. Have a great Thursday all & may the sun shine on you!

That meme is me most mornings! 🤣 Horribly early start for you, hope all has gone to plan.

Another mad day, work then painting soffits, mad dash to hairdresser, evening theatre Come From Away musical. V good /1

I did, but it disappeared, less than 24 hrs, just needed a good sleep I think & this lady is in the other class so 🤞

It is only for those over 75 now or with specific immunocompromised conditions (not all).

A class action is when a group of people take out a lawsuit against a provider/organisation as the all have the same or similar claims.

I know - my mouth dropped open. I don’t know all the people as the group covers two classes - many people go to both - and I only know the names of a limited few.

Thanks. I have always been disappointed with iPhone cameras when I see what the android ones can do (OH - has had a couple of different makes). But maybe the 14 is better.
