The pacing of this novel feels episodic, because it goes through each of the library people at a time, and I enjoyed getting to know all of them. This is one of those rare instances where I adore the film version of a novel. This is such a solid adaptation. Absolutely y’all should read this book sometime. The movies are okay (Lon Chaney ftw of course lol), and the musical is solid (and pretty accurate thematically), but they’re none of them as complex as the original. I loved this one. Phoebe’s life falls apart in a devastating way and she’s straight up planning suicide, but then! Turns out everyone else in the hotel is here for a wedding and one thing leads to another in the best way. I LOVE a story with character growth. #TheWeddingPeople #AlisonEspach #Booksky
