This bit (from the Aquatic Ecology assessment) “Of additional concern is the ability for contaminants to bioaccumulate, which could impact recreational fishing within PKOH (concentrated around the eastern breakwater) by exposing fishers to these contaminants if animals are caught and consumed.”

Yeah that’s some awful news. Saw a report today that lists all the black hip hop men who’ve died young over the past decade or so, citing a need for better health care screening and mindsets.

Stephen Bali (ALP) in the second reading quotes from the 1979 Bill readings, yet missed out on introducing this classic
Text reads:

Mr A. G. STEWART (Manly) [4.34]: I support the Environmental Planning and Assessment Bill and cognate bills that are before the House. This legislative package provides an opportunity to approach the 1980's with a fresh outlook on environmental and planning matters. I was surprised when the honourable member for Pittwater complained about lack of time to study the bills. I know of his interest in these matters, but it seems that he did not have time to study the bills on Friday because he was out in his yacht. Whether he had the bills with him I do not know.

Mr Smith: It was not my yacht.

As the opposition speaks in support of genuine community consultation it’s worth noting that it was the Liberal Party that argued in 1979 for a 28 day exhibition period rather than the 14 days that Labor was proposing. I was a little shocked to read that in Hansard last week.

Arguing that there’ll be more not less community consultation when the reforms propose removing the word “community” from “community consultation” is certainly a mood

Mark Speakman (libs) speaking in support of the planning reforms and of developers. the poor pets, who are facing rising costs and that’s what’s holding back housing supply. Using the old “regulatory cost” arguments which comes from research that’s been debunked.

Just saw this tree. It’s a big one, a plane tree. Hate the things (hayfever), but hope it didn’t hurt anyone on the way down.
