It's actually crazy that they gathered hundreds of the most powerful men in our military to listen to two drunk fat rapists whine about wokeness and the "warrior ethos" for an hour.
Same thing happened with Biden: "oh I've been friends with so-and-so for 40 years, I know him and he'll do the right thing!"

Cue the football being ripped away at the last second, again and again, forever.
Jefferies, Schumer et al. still delude themselves into their fantasia of respectability politics because at the end of the day, they're still buddies with all the other dinosaurs across the aisle.
HAKEEM JEFFRIES: "We hope and expect that Republicans will do the right thing"
Another not-typical post but holy FUCK the new Gates of Dawn is incredible. Every album from this band improves on the last, this time they've really truly embraced the psychedelia and it's a masterpiece:

Extremely rare post but the new Wehmut is the best depressive BM album of the year and barring one VERY hype potential album still forthcoming, I don't see that changing

cool that bsky has their own form of "blue check psychosis", as evident in the replies here
I was going to say something about how wildly inappropriate it is for this type of speech to occur at a funeral but them I remember it's for one of their fellow SS members and it's totally on brand tbh
“What do YOU HAVE? You have NOTHING, you are nothing. You are wickedness, you are jealousy, you are hatred, YOU ARE NOTHING. You can build nothing, produce nothing, create nothing."
Same type of thing they did contrasting weak lib American they/them soldiers with epic badass alpha Russian soldiers...who immediately got turned into minced meat by Ukrainian drones on the front lines.
If you're interested, check out some of the work by Tanya Luhrmann. The Gold brothers also have some work on how Americans started developing a particular brand of persecutory delusions only after the advent of reality TV and The Truman Show.
There's actually a whole field of transcultural psychiatry that looks at this. Schizophrenia and other forms are pathoplastic - the content, valence, and form that delusions and hallucinations take are influenced by the culture of the individual.
Like there's obviously a point to be made about how ideology is overriding materialist interests here but you'd figure some of the dumb oafs would be wise enough to realize "huh yeah maybe voting for the guy who wants to deport 90% of my seasonal workers isn't a savvy business decision" but nope
I'll forever talk shit on the farming class in America because they're continually propped up on subsidies and near-slavery levels of free indentured labor from the global South but can't stop being racist long enough to reap the benefits.
Farmers in deep-red Pennsylvania are struggling to find workers. They're pushing lawmakers to move faster on a farm labor solution, even as Trump cracks down on immigration.

“We need people to do the jobs Americans are too spoiled to do," said one farmer and three-time Trump voter.

People posting clips of Charlie dissing LeBron supercut into a montage clearly have more negative impacts than, say, many MANY sitting members of Congress unequivocally braying for blood and vengeance.
Imagine being the guy bringing elephants to battle and going "yeah no fuck it, throw some swords on this thing."
All of these pundit eulogies re: Kirk read more like them having some idealized form of a Charlie Kirk rather than the one that lived and died. Like they're trying to delude themselves, as much as the reader, into thinking that Kirk was principled, somehow above personal attacks and gotchas? Like???
20 minutes after Trump inevitably croaks, you ghouls are gonna have weepy memoriams describing him as a "loving family man full of boisterousness and love of country." Fuck off.
With how leagues are now piecemealing individual *games* to multiple streaming services? On top of within-market blackouts? Yeah I'm still sailing the high seas.
Streameast — the world’s largest illegal sports streaming platform — has been shut down, according to a leading U.S-based anti-piracy organization.

The unauthorized domains generated 1.6B visits over the past year, providing free access to global sports fixtures.

New Kostnateni wooooooooo
The definition of a first world problem and DEFINITELY not the most pressing thing given everything else happening on a daily basis, but the number of "we're no longer shipping to the US/shipping to the US in now massively more expensive" emails I've gotten these last few days is killing me dawg
Been in a mood so I'm revisiting one of the better depressive BM albums of recent times.

Null - Entity
The point is (obviously) really fucking dumb but David's use of "the West" - and not just "America" - is one of those eyebrow raising tells that flashes the playbook.
You feel wet every time you watch liberals on TV?
So-called "hard" scientists care more about the molecules, microns, and minutiae of the study than about the people living and breathing around them.
Scientists like this (obsessed with positivist, "pure", objective [lol] facts) would be totally content existing in a world devoid of all human life if it meant eschewing anything getting in the way of their Truth™
In which a Yale prof calls for jettisoning humanities to make way for science-only universities.

“scientists… are being punished for the sins of [humanities scholars] because we all live under one roof. I cannot see a compelling reason for our continued cohabitation.”
Unyoke the Sciences From the Humanities
Arts and sciences typically cohabitate. Should they?
